Noise when going round a right handed corner or roundabout

Hopefully someone can help as whenever I go round a right handed corner or round a roundabout I get a kind of whirring noise coming from the drivers side. I thought initially I could be conrer too quickly but it happens on almost all corners now.
Any of you guys come up against this.
Cheers
Graham

Interesting - what engine you got again? I know I could look back, but always easier to specify in a thread.

Do you have mudflaps? It could be either these, or a loose bit of wheel arch liner catching.

I know I have a slightly loose exhaust heat shield and that manages to vibrate when I turn hard right.

No mud flaps but I will check the wheel arch.

How loud is this 'whirring' noise? And is it only on drivers side? Has a passenger confirmed it is not their side as well?

Re: Noise when going round a right handed corner or roundabout

I had a similar experience - it was a metallic rubbing noise only present when going round a right hand bend. I was able to replicate it by putting the wheels on full lock and going round in circles steadily increasing speed. Fiat took a look and did the same circling routine. It was traced to a loose back plate on one of the front disc brakes. A quick adjustment and I haven't heard anything since.

I got it booked in Monday at the fiat dealer so hopefully it's just that. You can hear it the passenger side but it seems to be coming from the drivers side.

Re: Noise when going round a right handed corner or roundabout

Took it to the garage on Monday went out with one of the guys to listen to the noise. Took it back in today for them to strip the drivers side front wheel and have a look it. But they don't seem to have much of an idea what it is. I will keep you posted.

Re: Noise when going round a right handed corner or roundabout

I had a similar thing on my ibiza when the drivers calliper gave up the ghost and wouldnt hold a pad properly and a part was hanging off and touching the disc.

Strangely it braked ok.

Mine just started doing this too

Think I'll take a look myself before I book in to a dealer.

Problem seems to be sorted - appears to have been the back plate touching the disc - when I had the wheel off I could see less than 1mm of clearance on front near side, so bent it out a bit to match the others and it seems to have solved the problem
