just fitted a new steering wheel off an abarth 500 and although i connected all the plugs up correctly the horn does'nt work? its not the fuse so it must be something i've done. i was wondering if anyone knows how the horn system works behind the airbag? presumably one of the connectors must work the horn but its the same connector as the old one so in theroy it must work? also, i noticed when i took the old one off that there was a big plastic disc that all the wires come out of that sits around the splined end of the shaft that the wheel slides onto. is this what activates the horn when you press the centre of the wheel?

No, all connections (horn, buttons) go trough the clockspring inside this disc - the horn contact is a simple closing contact between the airbag and the steering wheel which activates a relay.
I guess it will work the same way as the Stilo steering wheel...

thanks guys, took the airbag off again and it turned out to be the bigger black plug that supplies the power and radio controls. the live pin on the sltio plug was in a different postion to the live on the abarth plug so once i'ld found which one was the live i simply took the plug apart and shifted it over to where the live was on the stilo loom and "Roberts your fathers brother", i have a horn! (y)

with a bit of time and patience (both of which i don't have :D) i could've found out which wire controls the radio volume and channel buttons and applied the same technique, but for now its just a plain wheel with a working horn. coffee and a biscuit for me i think! :)
