Re: Modifying Stilo JTD

I just thought when looking in the various car accessory brochures they only list the abarth as a proper kit i.e the only one with the neccesary brackets & fittings. Also whist your here Nige I'd like to ask about remapping for turbocharging. Can you do it yourself (I mean you not me) or do you need to buy a new ECU.

No, the Abarth one is the one that doesn;t actually have a kit. The intake side is ovoid with two holes to screw the maf directly into. The 85-150's come with various kits therefore I suppose you could say that "they" are the proper kits lol!

As for your ECU, hmm It depends how your turbo is going to be "controlled". At the end of the day the EPROM can be programmed with anything to a degree, but whether you would be able to get all the right information to and from it you would have to look at carefully. I would expect that you would need a custom built ECU on this. Don't really know 100% to be honest as its not something I have ever done to this set up and this ECU. If you are serious about this, the guy I would recommend is Pete Betts at Thor Racing www.thor-racing.co.uk - he is a damn fine bloke and bloody good too.

Re: Modifying Stilo JTD

i've decided not to get a full exhaust system...
probably just a cat back system or just the back box + remap.
what sort of gains with the cat back system and back box?

As I mentioned earlier in this thread you wouldn't really see any gains as the exhaust gases are used by the turbo therefore having a full system is a bit pointless. If you want something for show & a bit more sound then a backbox will do.

Re: Modifying Stilo JTD

Thats more to do with the downpipe/exhaust manifold than a cat back system. Sorry I may not have said it well enough. All I actually meant was if your not going to bother going the whole hog just get a backbox.

On turbocharged engines a sports cat should see some gains, it will allow the turbo to spool up quicker and the engine should feel easier to rev.

Re: Modifying Stilo JTD

All I meant mate was that if you read the whole thread you'd have seen that we'd already discussed manifold/downpipes.
