I'm looking for some help with my 02 plate 1.9 jtd stilo. I'm a bit new to forums so you will have to bear with me but thanks in advance for any help.

Apart from all the other problems that seem to come with fiats ( pre heat fault, car still starts at -9) (water in the fuel filter I've drained it and it made no difference) (abs fault fixed). The main problem now is the throttle response. The other day the throttle developed a dead spot, the engine was still running and no lights came on, if I pressed the pedal to the floor it picked up again, or if I come off and back on the pedal. I thought the pedal potentiometer was faulty so fitted another pedal this sorted the problem for a few days and 100 miles, but now the problem is back as bad as ever.

Is this a common easy one any help appreciated

Cheers

if i remember rightly the egr can give these symptoms and possibly the boost solenoid... In the guides section Theres one for the boost soleoid the egr just needs cleaning and if you feel like it, blanking off.

I've had this problem too, sometimes it doesn't do it for ages then it does it quite often. I've had the egr valved blanked off which did help for a bit but hasn't stopped it. A friend of ours who is also a mechanic thought it could be something to do with the fuel lines? Sorry I don't mean to hijack your thread but maybe that could be a possibility. If the fuel filter is old maybe its letting all the crap through and maybe thats whats doing it. By the way when does yours lose power, is it under 2k revs?

Thanks for the ideas. I will clean the egr valve and see if that makes a difference. The problems does happen at about 200o revs it will die coming off say a roundabout when you get back on the throttle.

I have now changed the fuel filter, this has made no difference. The egr valve looks like it has been slighty blowing from the gasket on the left hand side of the body, not sure if this would cause a problem. I disconnected the valve and ran the car up the road and this also made no difference. does anybody know if this is now pointing to the boost solenoid

Thanks
