Hi there

Im new to this forum having purchased a 52plate stilo for my wife yesterday.I have a couple of questions that hopefully someone can help me with as i feel unsure of the car at the min.

Firstly when driven at around 65mph i get the amber warning triangle and also audible beeps. What would cause this or likely problem??

Secondly,I didnt notice when i purchased it but the speedo does not return to 0mph,It goes down to 20mph but no lower.

I didnt notice either of the problems on test drive so im wondering what i have let us in for. Also is there downloadable owners manual available??,I have all the others but that one is missing.Or if anyone has one they can sell me ill happily pay.

I would really appreciate any help you can give me in trying to rectify these problems.I am really pleased with it and most of all so is the wife as its mainly her car so if i can do this without any earache that would be great lol.

Thanks in advance

Speedos are notoriously inaccurate a very low speeds, so I wouldn't worry about that.

The beep and warning are a speed warning to advise the driver you have reached a set speed (in your case 65mph). You can adjust the speed at which the warning sounds (I've got mine set at 85!). Consult your handbook on how to change it.

Hi and welcome to the FF. After you have inserted your key and completed the "initial check" you will be able to enter your menu screen by pressing the "MODE 1" button on the dashboard. You can then surf/scroll the menu by use of the up & down buttons untill you get to the "speed limit on/off" setting. You will then need to turn this to the off position and your 65 limit will be removed. Hope this helps:)

Thanks guys

I have been on a good run in it today and the speedo seems to work ok sometimes and then other times when coming to a stop will not drop below 20mph.Ie when sitting at the lights it says im doing 20 mph lol.

The mode button you speak of does not really seem to do much apart from make the mileage flash so i must be doing something wrong??

Should be a pretty large menu there, with lots of option. One of them is "speed lock" or similar, to warn you if you drive faster than your preference.

So do i need to hold the mode button down for any length of time or anything?.I can get the milage to flash and i did manage to set the clock but i cnt seem to do anything other than that.

Sorry please excuse my newbieness but what is proxy alignment??.I just had a thought too,My car does not have the original radio in but just an aftermarket kenwood. When i press mode am i supposed to be seeing the user menu on the radio display or the dash clock display??

I have downloded it and read through,The only thing i can get my mode button to do is the following.

when sitting looking at the dash all i can see on the illuminated display is the headlight level and the clock at the bottom in the centre.

If i press mode briefly i get the same symbols but also the mileage appears top left(flashing) and temp top right.

Thats all i can get it too do :(

As your mileage is flashing and you have an after market radio installed I'd agree with Morty. The original radio was removed and now the car is missing a node. This may be why your unable to access all the options when pressing the mode button. If the cars original radio was a SatNav/CD player setup most of the options are accessed via the SatNav/CD player.

This is a video of the options on my car which has the SatNav/CD player installed and the flashing mileage problem(due to not being able to do Proxi-Alignment after replacing my climate control(air-con).

Ah ok i see what you mean now im a bit out of my depth with this car.I have had vw's for years but needed a good value 2nd car and to be honest i really like it.

Anyway i didnt realise that the dash had a lift up panel on it,Just found the cd changer lol,I have just ordered a standard head unit(tape) which comes with the unlock code.Maybe this will get me one step nearer to getting at that illusive menu.

You could do Proxi-Alignment now, it would reconfigure the system so it knows the node has been removed. I'm not sure if that would cure the menu access problem though. I suspect the car probabely had a SatNav/CD player installed before because you still have the CD Multi changer in the upper glove box, or "cooler" as its sometimes called. I know the menu works when the SatNav, Tape, CD Players are swopped like for like but I don't know what will happen when you swop for a different type, SatNav for Tape, for example. As you already ordered a new Tape head unit I guess we'll find out soon.

I thought it was worth a try,I paid £10 plus postage for it so for the sake of such a small amount it was a no brainer.

Is there anyone in leicestershire that you know could do the proxy for me??
