Every now and again, when driving, if I take my foot off the accelerator the car will jerk a few times. Only happens every now and again but sometimes the only way to stop it is by droping down a gear.

Any idea what this can be?

I already replaced them. The best way i can describe it ss feeling is as if an engine mount is loose but they aren't.

I know exactly what you mean. It just happens sometimes with my 1.6 aswell. Best fix for it for me has been to put it in neutral while driving downhill using the brakes instead of the "engine brake" when you release the throttle. After 5 minutes it's ok, or when restarted the next time. I have also suspected engine mounts, but they are in perfect condition after 10 years. Checked them a week ago when replacing the mid exhaust.

My 1.2 was doing this.

You say you replaced mid exhaust? I had too replace flexi and manicat a few times.

Check your rear lower stabiliser mount (holds engine and gearbox steady in the main mounts)

My issue has gone since replacing, all other mounts where fine but... that's only cos I replaced the rear lower stabiliser mount before more damage / strain was put on the main engine mounts.

If the OP's gearbox mount is knackered, then a new one is the best way to go. The PU sealant will make a good one stiffer but using it to repair a broken/worn one is just a bodge.. :D

Agreed. Using sealant does not constitute a sufficient repair to the worn out piece.

There is a good reason Fiat did not make all the mounts and bushings for the Stilo out of sealant.
