hi my fiat stilo abarth came back from a garage and i noticed string wrapped around the inside of my alternator iam not sure that it is supposed to be there or not dont want to cut it out if its supposed to be there any help please

Did they change the alternator drive belt? Wonder if they used string to ease the belt over the pulley..? Otherwise it sounds totally bizarre. You should go back to the garage a.s.a.p.

On second thoughts...you're not mistaking the internal wire windings for string are you?
