hi all just a bit of advice needed ive just bought a set of lowerin springs of an ebay seller they where a used part and came out of a 2005 1.6 active sport, the part arrived all good but when we went to fit the springs the rear went in without any problems but we come to the front the coils at each end there much smaller than the mounts and dont seam to secure correctly even when the top mount bolt is secured tight, by some chance is the front shocks and springs on the 2005 1.6 active sport different from the 2002 1.8 (which is my car sorry i forgot to mention i no that all the 02 models fit ok ) the guy says that they where fitted without uprated shocks but happens to be selling rear shocks (uprated) and has recently sold front ones too. have i just been taken for a ride here or is there something im missing when fitting. any help would be greatfull guys.:bang:

Springs and mounts should be the same for the 1.6 and 1.8.
- You have put the spring on the correct direction?
- The new spring is pre-tensioned (not loose) before the complete strut assembly was reinserted?

Anyway, if the spring don't fit the top mount, then don't drive the car.

thats exactly what i thought the springs dont even need spring clamps before i put the strut top back on their clearly far too small and they must be the wrong springs all see if i can get the picture

Your springs lower too much for the OEM shock, and is clearly made for a shock with shorter piston and alternative top mount. You will have to get those shocks I presume. Perhaps a coilover kit which I have no knowledge of.

Someone else take over. (y)

Don't drive.
