Hi Guys,
Firstly, ive done a scout around on the forum and not found anything conclusive to this problem.
We bought a 1.6 16v stilo a few months ago, shortly after the problem started. The car would randomly cut out and say alternator failure, loose connection. After a few moments the car would start absolutely fine and drive for a few days before doing it again.
I changed the fusebox to a brand new fiat one, changed both bettery terminals, they needed doing anyway, cleaned the D connector, checked all the earths to the chassis and engine, all looked good and the car ran fine for a few months - Until Monday!
3 times in one hour it cut out, saying the same as before, but now sometimes it says Car Securiy failure. If you disconnect the battery for a few mins then reconnect, it will start every time.
I've got a new crank positioning sensor to fit tonight as i've been told it could be this. What else could this be? It's doing my head in and with my other half driving i don't want this to happen to her.
I've heard it could be a relay, or a new battery needed.
Can anybody shed any light?
Thanks in advance, Toby
