Hi

My jtd mutiwagon just completed a round trip to alton towers (just under 400miles) and was faultless as i would normally expect, but when i got home after a 3 hour drive i was unable to lock the car on the remote.
I didnt get the low battery warning so i was confused (my old 03 done that some years back).
I decided to swap batterys over with the wifes multiwagon as hers is working, i put my battery in hers and it unlocked her car, but mine with her battery still dosent work.
Im not sure what could have caused this as there was no warnings etc - one min it worked then it didnt. the light flashes and nothing else.
I can still use the key in the door but am already missing the remote feature (plus my lights dont flash now on the key).
does anyone have any ideas?, i have the full version of fiat scan but not the car security code (got distroyed in a house flood last year along with all my other car documents ive since had to replace).

cheers for any ideas
roy

ive now called fiat for my code, but i have to make a journey to get it as they need my logbook and proof of blooming id!!!???
does anyone have any ideas what could have cause this to happen, im gona try to reactive the key with fiat scan ecu when i have the code.

If the light on the key isn't working when you press the button your key is faulty.

Try a brand new battery in it. If that fails remove the battery from the key fob over night and try again the next morning. If thats fails you need to replace the remote key board inside then reprogram it back to the car using FES.

na the light works (red flash), im waiting for another copy of my log book to arrive so i can get the security code from fiat (my old log book got distroyed in a flood last year, and i only just noticed it was among the ruined paperwork).
If that fails, i have my old key from my written of car here, could i just use that board from it?,
thanks for your help

Yes, the board from your old key could be used and reprogramed to the car using FES. But if the light on the key is working when you press the button its possible the car just needs reseting. Leave the negative battery lead disconnected over night so the car resets. The remote stopped working on our old 5 door Stilo, leaving the battery disconnected over night reset the car and the remote started working again. It costs nothing so its worth a try before you start paying Fiat for codes.

DOOOHHHH, keep it simple stupid!!
now i feel like a right twit, after owning a stilo for all these years the most simple of fixes evaded me lol.
i disconnected the battery for 5 mins and volia!!
after i had fes etc on the car, i was about to take my door card off as ive just changed to door mirror assembly after some dipstick decided he wanted the lane i was in two weeks back.

Im stilll going to get the code as i would like to activate the cruise control bits n bobs and also swap the old key from my old car, my current spare has not got any remote features and as i have a good spare i think i will swap them around as i now know its possible.

thanks mate, you saved me barking up the wrong tree!!

Okay...two silly questions:

1) what does FES mean?

2) what tool(s) do people use to get to the actual battery--mine's buried under some kind of casing that has three strange looking screws/bolts that look like a Philips screwdriver will remove them--but it doesn't :(

Helllppppp!

FES is FiatECUScan. It's software that, with a laptop and the appropriate lead(s), can read fault codes and perform various adjustments to the car's ECUs.

The original battery cover screw need a TORX or RIBE bit.

i would like to activate the cruise control bits n bobs

Roy, what are these Cruise Control bits n bobs to which you allude? Are there features that are not enabled as default?
What else can be done with the software? Can I make my lights flash when I activate the alarm?

I think Roy means activating the light on the instrument panel which should come on when cruise is engaged (but generally doesn't if the control is retro-fitted).
