Hi all sorry to jump in, tried to blank mine off at position b it seemed ok but after a few mile the check engine light came on so I removed the blank, the engine warning light is still on can this be reset, and what damage/outcome have been if I left the blank in with the warning light on

thanks in advance

If you have put it back to normal then try starting the car 3 times in row (and let it idle for a few seconds before shutting off the engine and starting it) if the fault has gone - it will keep a record of it in the ECU and the check engine light will go out, if this does not go out after three successfull engine starts then the fault is still there and something is faulty...

Im starting a thread as my engine coolant temp sensor brought up a fault about 6 months ago and it went away on its own, it still came up on the diagnostics reader but as a pending fault, cleared this and it had gone completly... today it came back - check engine and a triangle lit up on the dash - then coolant temp sensor fault appeared, i shut engine off and started it three times in a row and it went away, but then about an hour later it came back and has gone away again - need to change this sensor :(

Just to update you all.i made a plate out of a old tin lid and placed it in postition b as I couldn't get the bolts out of a.it works a treat and seems to have solved the problem.thanks every one for your help it had been puzzling me for ages.

I have now refitted the pipe managed to get the engine warning light off, so I thought I would try again, this time I blanked off in two postions and quess what? the waning light has come back on :bang:

You need a blanking plate with little holes in it .. The solid ones cause engine light

Cab - ones the car is happy egr is working it should go out .. Mine did, or just get a cheap obd machine and reset it

Ok left it a while to see what would happen, the warning light is still on, so do I get new blanking plates with holes in,or drill somein existing plates, or do I try to reset the ecu?
