You can't remove it. I've tried it already, the only thing you can disassemble on that mirror is the plastic shell on the front and there is no access beneath it. A possible approach would be to somehow take the actual mirror out.. but there is a pretty good chance you might end up braking it. I once wanted to remove it too because there was no outside temp reading on the dash and it turned out that someone has disconnected the connector leading from the mirror to the door cable harness - plugged it in and voilaHow can i remove that "nipple" from the mirror, in the easiest way?
Searched about the answer, but nothing about how to remove it, only technical things.
I think the engine management system uses the data from that sensor so probabely not a good idea to remove it.

only good nipples, because : "good girls gone bad" )
now on topic: i asked that on forum, because i saw those pictures somewhere-attached-(but no text about the way of removing it)
well, i haven't noticed that is punto (i found pictures in a Stilo forum, and saved them immediately), and my driver side is on the left.
mine only on the driver side ( left is my driver side), A/C only. Now at Gaydon and looked at a MW win Climate and that's two temp sensors, one on each door mirror, my Stilo with manual AC though only has one on the OS door mirror.

So, that nipple is the temperature sensor or not?
Yes... it is the outside air temperature sensor.
It's only fitted on the driver's side, so a LHD car (Left Hand Drive) has it on the left mirror. A RHD car has it on the right mirror.
