Exclamation Water

When i purchased my Abarth lat November i was cleaning out the inside when i noticed that the drivers side foot well was damp & on the left hand side near where the foot rest is there was a trickle of water?.
So i took the car into the dealer and they gave it the once over and send that they couuld not find anything !

So i left it and then yesterday i was giving the car a little clean when pulled the drivers mat up and yet again the floor was damp and there was a little trickle of water coming from the same area again !.

Has anybody out their had the same issues or have just got to buy a pair of waterproof shoes !

Re: Water

Hi Stef,

Are you noticing any coolant loss? if it is "water" is can only be one of three possibilities:- Coolant - washers or an external leak. If there is a trickle in the car try smelling & tasting it, no I'm not winding you up! antifreeze has a very bitter tang so should be easy to identify, my guess is a leak from outside, wait for a dry day and try leaving the hose pipe on the front scuttle to see if you get the trickle to start. Hope this helps matey keep us posted

Regards Steve.......

EDIT: I have a spare pair of size 10 wellies...........

Had this on my previous Abarth - it's condensed water coming from capillary action due to the air-con. A pipe needs slightly re-routing, IIRC.

Re: Water

I had the same thing with my JTD, it turn out to be an A/C condensate pipe come loose. If you have the same thing, you will probably find the water has a bad smell to it.

If it is this, get your dealer not only to fix it, but also to fully deodorise and clean your car, as the smell will become truly awful as the weather gets warmer.

I posted this thread months ago and i was still gettiing a bit of water in the foot well every now and then ? but the guys down at Fiat said no Sir i can tell you hand on Heart that there is no problems with your car.
So on Saturday when we were having very hot weather i went to put some petrol in at the garage.
When i came back it looked like the foot mat was going to float off down the road
So i took the car straight down to the dealer where i had to wait ten minutes for the guy to finish bidding on E Bay???????. So i told the guy the problem and he got a mechanic from around the back in 5 minutes he had look and told me that a drain pipe from the air con was missing ?? i then asked why they didnt spot this before ??? no reply. The guy then went into the show room and robbed one from a Active sport with Arbath sideskirts 05 reg. which was a result for me but i bet not for the new owner of the active sport. But i can not complain they did it on the day but it took them three months to find it
