What are all these hoses on the back side of the intake manifold there for? I know the connector there is the MAP sensor, or is it?

And another question: what do you think about these spark plugs; there are some tiny speckles that looks like molten iron.

At least one of those holes is a vacuum take-off for the brake servo. I think the insulator on that spark plug is too clean (over lean mixture?). Shadeyman posted a pictoral guide to plug colours recently, might be worth searching for that.

Hi, thanks for the reply, which one is the vacuum for the servo why is it needed? If someone could explain the it would be very interesting :) As for the spark plugs, I know that if it is too lean you have white burnt flakes, so to say, I think they are just very clean; I drive on LPG.

Sorry didnt know you were on LPG, probably explains the unusual plug colour.

To find which is the servo, just trace the pipe that goes to the brake servo/master cylinder mounted on the bulkhead. The vacuum is needed to create the 'power' that reduces the force you have to use to push on the brake pedal.

Try braking with the engine switched off and you'll see what I mean. On second thoughts - don't!

Thanks, I'll trace that one. The only thing that worries me about the spark plugs are these tiny speckles. While I was driving just on petrol, the spark plugs were also clean, nothing like now, but clean all over with no deposits, but I've never seen those tiny little "pellets" (or never looked for them :)) Anyway I am still wondereing what all of these four hoses attached to the intake manifold do...
