(T) Stilo 1.9 JTD ACTIVE AIRCON & CD player

Sorry for being stupid, but how is it possible (acording to Fiat & also the dealer) that this unit can not have a CD player in a dashboard.

Who in their right mind designed a high class car with product from 20 years ago?

Anybody any solutions (mods etc)

Can you explain what you mean?

I take it your car has a tape deck? If it does you can get a CD changer to fit above the glovebox,is this what you mean?

I've got the 1.9 JTD and it's got the Sat Nav+ and the CD Changer so i don't see any reason why they shouldn't be able to fit one. Maybe you've just got a lazy dealer!!!!!

I do NOT want the CD changer in glove box. I would like to take out the tape unit (and sell it on ebay or store in the loft) and fit a CD unit in the space.
According to Fiat that is not possible on Aicon model (not that I believe them)

So all I need to know if there is a way to fit single CD unit into a dashboard

You could always get a radio frame in which you can fit a standard DIN size radio. Just like in the Punto mk2.
You can get frames with both one and two DIN holes.
That's what i plan to do when i get my Stilo. Out with the standard radio and in with my current Kenwood headunit + cd-changer.

Either buy a Stilo CD unit on eBay, or fit your own. Plenty of threads about it, this one in particular:

Just wonder, if it is possible (and it looks that way from the replies) then why dealer & Fiat claim that can not be done on this model?

Also as it is not Fiat unit what about the code issue etc?

I think your dealer is talking rubbish!! When i bought my stilo active aircon (albeit a 1.6 petrol) the dealer changed the tape player to a cd player as part of the deal and has worked perfectely since

Guys, thanks. Can not comment why, but phoned Fiat UK and that was the answer I got. Makes me wonder if they are sane in that case

And if that is the info they pass to the dealers, God help me...

It's probably to do with the fact that they want to sell you one of their own cd head units.

This is almost comical, but they do claim that Fiat own unit can not be fitted into this car! Total ******.
