hi all, just cleaned the maf and map sensor, and what a easy job it was. took less than a hour.
just would like to know on how would this effect my car?
i already noticed that the turbo kicks in much quicker as i can hear it but not sure on the mpg yet.
i average on about 42 - 50 mpg already and was wondering on if that would increase.
cheers
:slayer:

I did my MAF on Sunday, no difference.
Did my MAP on Monday evening, and have noticed about 7-8% improvement - I'm getting 50mpg where I used to get 47

wicked. so what else can i do to improve on mpg?
the only thing i cannot clean is the egr valve *it is a hell of a job* just cannot get at one bolt - the one on the right bend underneath*its a tw+t*

EGR comes off quite easy. You'll need a 6mm Ball End Allen Key to remove the flexi pipe, crack it loose then use the ball end to wind the allen screws out. A 13mm spanner to remove the 3 bolts. I use a small 13mm ring spanner with an angled head. Takes about 20 minutes to remove and replace, but took me about an hour to clean the EGR.

i have tries this. the bolts come off easy, but the allen key screws are so tight they wont come off. they just start to round. its a serious pain in the arse as this is the only few thing left to do on the car.

is it easier to do this when the engine is warm as the metal will be abit warm or no.
otherwise im just gonna grind them off and try and get another screw plus try and drill them out.

The Allen Screws should not round off as long as you use the correct size Allen Key. The Allen Key will bend before the screw rounds off if your using the correct size. I prefer a cool engine, mainly because the EGR gets hot when used and can burn you. I've found no difference hot or cold than that.
I wouldn't advise grinding or cutting them off. Try drownding the screws in WD40 and letting them soak over night, then use a good quality set of Allen keys on it.

i will try it again 2nite, iv tried the wd40 thing once and didnt work. will have to buy a long allen key aswell 2moz morning.
just winds me up as i cant get it off.

iv owned the car for just over 2 and half year now and iv never cleaned anything on it, just changed the oil and air filter.

got two of the things done just need to do the egr valve then finished. anything else i could do to it??

now i have problem. the mpg is average on about 47 - 51 now after a good clean.
now the problem is after i go over 2800rpm there is a flat spot at 3000rpm then after keeping my foor down it goes back to normal,
anyone know what it is???
