Zak this subject has been done to death on here. You will get as many opinions as there are members! I use Mobil 1 0w-40 in my 2.4 by the way...

the problem is, i propably destroyed my old engine using a cheap 5w-40 oil. The engine surely was a bit damaged when i bought the car.. but i think changing that oil and using it gave it the rest.

Some people say that the 2.4 engine won't work well with a thin oil as it was built for the 10w-60.. but from my understanding a 5w-x must be better since the oil will be everywhere faster than a thicker oil?

I downloaded datasheets from all selenia oils and from the mobil1 5w-50 and try to compare them.. but little i know about all the oil characteristics listed in those sheets :S

I am assured by Mobil that Mobil 1 is compatible with the 2.4 engine. Your words 'cheap oil' and 'a bit damaged when I bought it' probably explain the cause of your problems...

It was Delphi 5w-40 oil.

I think different brands/oils still have different effects on the engine? Like some additives mobil1 puts into their oil while selenia doesnt?

And then there still is the question about 5w or 10w
