Stumbled into here when surfing for recall notices (?) and its so great to know I'm not alone with my Stilo experience. I love the car despite the hard times (lumpy running-eventually cured, rapid inner tyre wear, creaky suspension, service interval not reset etc. etc.).
I moved to a Stilo from a VW Golf and its miles better. A lot of people seem unhappy with a lot of things about the Stilo but my experience to date is no worse than with VW (except perhaps the dealers). At the end of the day, Stilo owners have a strong, stylish car (3-doorers anyway) which still gets admiring glances. This is more can be said for Focus owners (The Focus is, if the UK motoring press is to be believed, the worlds best ever car after all!)
The Stilo is a well kept secret (I told Which magazine this - see February 2003 p40 - in a 2 hour interview but they only quoted one of my naffer comments).
I've got used to the good life and have even accidentally done that thing in the advert where the guy stands and waits for the door to open.
Happy to be part of the family
