Hi all,

When going over bumps I'm hearing a rattle from the front left. Any ideas what this could be,?

Your Rolex needs a link or two removing?

tic tacs in glove box?

On a less light-hearted note...drop link.

Cheers for the serious reply man lol. How would one go about checking this before taking it in to be fixed?

The drop link is item #4 in this diagram. Turn the wheels to full right lock and try to shake the top and bottom of the link. If you feel it moving and hear it clunking, it needs replacing.

Always best to do them in pairs. Be carefull not to scrath that Rolex while your replacing them.

Cheers Davren. As always Genius with the Diagrams. Appreciated. Sounds like metal Rattling, almost as if something has broke off and rattling around somewhere.

Muchós help Shadey. I'll make sure i take the Rolex off, can't damage the baby. Wait it says 'Rolux' on the dial... Oh Dear.

As the drop links are only sub-£15 a pair inc. delivery and they are VERY easy DIY fit, and if the car's history is unknown OR has done a fair mileage since the last change ... I'd suggest that they would probably be worth replacing as a matter of course.

Sorry. To check the drop links. I had a look this morning, but no idea what it is.

Having them changed by a mechanic mate. Even if its not the culprit wont do no harm.

Probabely better to pay him to find whats rattling rather than paying him to change your drop links for no reason?

Yeah. Theres no play in it, but it does look like its not sitting right. If im looking at the right thing.

The ball joint at each end allows them to twist a little so they can look off center.

Ah right. Yeah it does look a little off centre, but I guess this is normal. Hmm, would there be noticeable play if it was broken? Because it feels solid to me. However, I do have exxcessive body roll turning left so something isnt right

Worth checking the small rubber 'bellows' that encapsulate the joins at either end of the drop links. If they are split, all the lubricant leaks out and the joint goes dry and noisy.
