Re: Savi...

Check these two posts.

http://www.fiatforum.com/showthread....8&page=5&pp=15

Good info in that post if you ignore all the dross. Pay particular attention to my payback comparison between purchase price of JTD to a 1.2.

And this post of my weight comparisions, makes interesting reading i though.

Re: Query

It is quite a large capacity 1.2 engine (1242cc) and other companies have been putting engines not much bigger into similar size vehicles for years (Pug 306/ 307 with 1360cc, Citroen Xsara/ C4 with same 1360cc engine). Add the 6-speed box taking the stress off the engine at motorway speeds and the fact this engine also has some Italian 'Brio' in the way it goes about business and I wouldn't worry about it.

Don't expect a power-house and you won't be disappointed

Many cars are more honest at the cheaper end of the range, and the Stilo is no different

And from driving a JTD Punto I can tell you any money saved at the pumps gets swallowed-up by Fiats 'Dick Turpin' servicing costs, so the 1.2 will be much cheaper

Re: Query

I want to thank you all for your advice and facts. It looks like my Sei will be repaired so there's no need for the stilo yet, i think i'll wait a year or two and then maybe get the 1.6...or wait even longer and get the abarth

Thanks for the help.

Re: Query

Yeah wait a couple of years to save money for all the fuel you'll use in the 1.6!

Fiat have always been well known for their knowhow in small engines. Which is why the 1.2 is such a good motor. Perfect for tanning Corsa's and the like, obviously it won't beat a 1.6...... or there would be no point in the 1.6.
