12k service costs

Rang Curries of Watford to book 12k service today and was told the £99 I was quoted last week was wrong and the cost is actually £173! Told them to forget it.

I have the below 3 quotes now :-

Perrys Amersham = £125

Pinneys Luton = £145

Souls MK = £85

Do you think that last ones too cheap!! Sounds too good to be true! Still it is only a 1.4 with no aircon.

Cool When I...............................

asked my dealer the same question, they said there are regional differences, due to varying labour costs, but all parts are priced uniformly.

Re: 12k service costs

I was quoted £106 for a 1.6 Active Sport no air con by AMC of Chelmsford. That includes picking it up from work returning it and a wash and valet.

Re: 12k service costs

Cheers

Brian K mine £85 looks about right compared to a 1.6.

Also did anyone know any answers to the following that I posted in the general section?

When my Stilo is serviced is it straight forward when they reset the service indicator on the computer? Also will they have to run software upgrades before reset or can they get away with not seeing if there are any updates?

Where do they plug the machine into the car? I was told the service takes 30 mins by one dealer and 1 hour by another, reading the service schedule it the only thing they do besides visual checks is the oil filter and oil.

Thanks

Re: 12k service costs

Fiat claim fixed price servicing, as far as i'm concerned that means you pay the same regardless of the Fiat dealer you go to! But Fiat dealers just don't seem to care and charge whatever the hell they like.

Re: 12k service costs

Off their website:

"Fixed Price Service
Every Fiat Dealer operates Fiat's "Menu Pricing Programme" which guarantees a fixed prices with no hidden extras - so the price you see is the price you pay."

By the looks of it, this is dealer dependant, but it means you are not going to be charged any extra. My dealer has a board with all this info on as you walk in, but it seems to miss out all the cars I have, lol.

Re: 12k service costs

I just got a quote for my 3rd service plus MOT on my 1.6 dynamic from Arnold Clark. Including the MOT they quoted me £103. This is one of their 41 point services and to be honest all i think they change is the air filter, spark plugs and oil. I asked what oil they used and the guy said Shell Helix semi synthetic (any good?).

I'm a bit wary of this, has anyone any thoughts?

Cheers

Re: 12k service costs

Hornet, try DBS Desira in Hertford. I find them excellent although I can't comment on their Stilo service prices
