Tuning Stilo Abarth Supercharger

I cant even find anyone who's fitted an induction kit to their Abarth,
let alone super-charged one, definitely very ermm, ambitious!

it wont be cheap... Eaton M45 (new shape bmw mini) blower would probably be ideal.

its gonna be like having a sexual relationship with tinker bell though... you would if only you could figure out how!

cheers for that ill have a look into that option! My other half is a master tech so no labour charges for me! My other half is pretty determined to do this project with me and he seems to be pretty sure that this can be done. Thanks again!

I also have the bmc cda induction on my car. I know of 2 people that have turbo'd their abarth so can't see why super charger is gonna be any more ambitious, just the cost but I've got plenty saved for a rainy day!

Sorry to veer slightly off topic but have neither of you with the BMC CDA not had issues with it upsetting the MAF and causing all sorts of false engine management warnings?

I'd dearly like a BMC or K&N Typhoon but don't want to end up with my dash lighting up like a xmas tree!

Also re super-charging, please dont take this the wrong way, but if you've got £1,000s to spend doing that, wouldn't you just prefer to spend the money on a 'proper' performance car like an evo or impreza? Where you can get everything you're looking for as standard rather than trying to turn the Abarth into something that it isnt?

I'm not trying to be negative about your potential supercharging project and wish you luck with it, but as much as I'm happy with my Abarth for now, my next move will definitely be for a more focused performance car.

I've not had any problems with lights coming on.
why would I want to buy an evo or scoobie? Both are well overdone and far to common for my liking. Around here you don't see many abarths hence my reason for taking on a project like this. I can get parts @ trade price across all makes so costs can be kept down. This is just a fun project for us as I have a spare bit of cash and a new company car. I think this topic will be one you either agree or disagree with (like the manual vs selespeed).

Im not against the idea in the slightest. As i have said its something that has been in the back of my mind for a while but the financial implications are what is stoping me right now as i have next to no mechanical skills.
buuuut. As you say there arent many in your area. Nor mine. Infact there arent a large number anywhere. They just werent all that popular. Thus meaning there is nothing off the shelf so things will have to be custom built.
Then you will need things like forged internals. I would imagine a large part of the job is identifying parts and components that can be stolen from cars like the Fiat coupe and alfa GTA enigines
I can give you a proposition that may help you financially. As i plan a similar project then i could go in with buying/making 2 of certain things i.e adaptor hubs to fit Brembos from a coupe.

Pm me with what you have In mind and we can see what we can sort out.

It has been done before, novitec use to sell a supercharger kit. They dont do them anymore though, heard it was due to the problems they had with cars fitted with the kit.
Ok thanks for that. That's something I will look into and find out what problems etc they had! Thanks again!

Fair point, I cant disagree that imprezas are very common and rather chavvy! But if your priorities are performance, handling and reliability then theres not really any other option.

As I said I'm not being negative or 'against' the idea, good luck and keep us updated with its progress.

It can be more than fitting low compression pistons. My last car was a Lancia HPE Volumex.
At first glance it's motor is just a supercharged FIAT engine but it had extra webbing in the block, a special head, head gasket had ceramic inserts (I tried Croma turbo gaskets but they were no good). Engine bearings were special sintered bronze and the engine components were nitrided. The car had done in excess of 300,000km when I sold it. So done right they can be durable. I even used to tow car transporters with it so towing 2 ton over some hilly terrain.
