Wink Gear Knob

Can anyone tell me how to remove the gear knob? I've pushed, pulled, screwed, all to no avail, I want a shiny new knob (ooooerrr missus)

Re: Gear Knob

not sure the easy way to get it off the stilo but one low tech solution could be a hacksaw if your not bothered about keeping the current one. Had to do that with a past car..

Re: Gear Knob

Can the gear knob actually be replaced with an after market one?

Fiat makes 3 different ones:
(Don't worry about the text, it's danish )
http://www.fiat.dk/content/fiat_tilb...erieur.asp?q=1

If you can fit these, i would think you can also fit others.

Re: Gear Knob

Not sure about any of those knobs, only the middle one looks "half decent"; i'd like to ket a nice smart knob for the Stilo, one that doesn't stick out, actually, i'd be quite happy with having the same one i've got now but with s shorter "stem" (don't know what that bit's called, i just want the knob to be lower down)

BTW; thet stearing wheel looks fantastic!!!!!!!!

Re: Gear Knob

I have the round Brio one in mine ... It looks nice and does the job .... To get the old one off you need the tool from Fiat .... I just ordered the knob, then got them to fit it when the car went in for something else.

Re: Gear Knob

Yep you need a special tool and i replaced mine with a MOMO and it fitted great.. And let me give you a advice go and cut your shift arm(?!)(we say it like that in my country, i mean the "stick" covered with leather, under the shift knob) it looks soooooo much better, gives you ability to change gear quicker and makes a little ferrari alike "click" sound while shifting gears

I talked to my friend who cut his leaver off and he sez its been about a year and there is no problem, the noise is still the same and every thing is OK.. If i had a manuel stilo i'd also do it because i think the leaver is too long..
