Im sure this has been covered but i cant find any threads My steering seems really light and if i take my eyes off the road the car wanders.
can anybody shed some light on why this could be?

Thanks

Stu

I knew somebody would have to say that. No city button isnt on.

I need to find my thread where i was told the tyre pressures for my car but that would just to be to check that i havnt forgotten and done it wrong.

I spose tesco's cheapy digital gauges they have at their pumps could be wrong. I will try and find somewhere else to check them.

No its way above freezing here and been like it for a while. Im just trying to decide if it was about the last time i did the tyres. I think it was before that though.

I have the city button on all the time...

The system is not designed for the city steering to be switched on permanently, it's just an aid for parking.

Leaving it on permanently will put a much greater load on the battery and alternator and, therefore, the engine will be using more fuel. It could also lead to premature failure of the steering column motor.

It's also very unwise if there's any chance of encountering ice/snow.

Lack of feel at the wheel will greatly increase the chance of completely losing control of the vehicle (same comment applies to excessive tyre pressures)

it actually felt good in the snow, didnt realise about the altanator and stuff i guess ill turn it off (n) all tho it has been on for 2 years lol

Where did you get that? :) The book says that the city mode disengages over 30km/h. The extra el. motor engaged at low speeds won’t discharge the battery… I think… but do you have prove of what you’re saying?

I have used girlie mode and im pretty sure i can tell its on over 30km/h
I am not sure, as far as I remember it's 30km/h. It's very addictive though all other cars then seem to have stone tyres and steering wheel :)

It shuts off at 30 km/h, just as the car locks itself at 20 km/h. But the CITY function is pretty useless, as the steering is already very light. It should be a way to "tighten" it at higher speeds.

There's actually another reason for not using it (apart from lack of road feel) and that's if you kerb a front wheel whilst parking.

You're far more likely to do damage to wheel/tyre/tracking etc. :(

You should push really hard to do any damage :D Light or not you'll still notice if it's stuck and can't move anymore :)
