Rear view mirror vibrates

Now this has been annoying me since I got a new Stilo. When driving at slow speeds looking at the mirror is no problem. But when driving on the motoring or at high speed the mirror vibrates like mad and I can't focus properly on is in my view. The only speed I have found it stops is at 85mph but this isn't ideal.

Has any one else had this problem or is it just me

I never had this problem with me Punto..

Stan..

Re: Rear view mirror vibrates

Never found it, tbh!

It sounds like resonance - does it only stop at 85mph?

Re: Rear view mirror vibrates

Stuart,

Your probably right. When going slow it's fine, but going faster it is starting to annoy me. When touching the glass close to the mirror there is alot of vibration. Is this meant to be normal??

Re: Rear view mirror vibrates

Probably not normal - could be a factor of tyre size, tyre makes, tracking, etc. Although your car is relatively new, isn't it.

Re: Rear view mirror vibrates

Mine does this too, I've driven a few cars which do it. Its more of a problem in summer when the stuff they use to dampen the mirror goes all soft.

Re: Rear view mirror vibrates

Try this turn your stereo down! If you've got it set to adjust volume with speed it may be the case that its your speakers causing the vibration.

Try driving along at 85mph with the stereo off! Even with the basic 6 speaker/tape unit/ CD changer setup the Stilo system has enough bass to vibrate the mirror.

Nah, I find mine gets the shakes regardless, though the stereo is well able to vibrate it too, the vibrations at speed though are nowhere near as bad as the ones caused by the stereo.

Re: Rear view mirror vibrates

Well even though I do have uprated speakers and a subwoofer the mirror vibrates with no music. I may go down to my dealer on Saturday to see if they can sort something out..

Funny enough...

I just realised yesterday mine doesn't do this anymore Maybe its because the stuff used to dampen the mirror has had a change to soften or something???

ian1delap, where abouts in Newcastle are you? There is a Scilla red Active with 17's often parked outside the gym I go to.

Cool Mine's..................................

fine, however, I've noticed the occasional vibrating, but this generally happens when I go above 160mph and it settles down when I reach over 180mph. Don't worry about it, it's a Stilo trait, the only thing that concerns me is that it happens at such low speeds, get your dealer to check it out.
