Well that explains it living in peterborough automatically loses you 10mpg, it's the fiat black hole effect. It's the only explanation.

Re: fuel consumption

I switched to instant econ on the computer to see what it would say from a pull away. damn thing dropped to 12mpg! or was that 9mpg. I think, maybe its best not to have these computers and just rely on old pen and paper or your hand calculator

I get 19 to 24 mpg from my 4.7 litre Heep, which has an auto box and accelerates and cruises much quicker than you might expect!

Certainly be able to sort out small-engined Stilo's and Rovers in a fairly straight-line drag race...

Re: fuel consumption

My bumf.

407 miles covered, over 3 weeks of commuting 6 miles and one trip to Edinburgh (80mph i was late). 68 miles remaining range. 40.1mpg, see tootling on backroads even affects the 1.2 a bit. Average speed 32mph.

Gotta be one in the eye for TC, get your car to the garage mate. I'm getting way higher economy and with an higher average speed, and Scorg can confirm the road between Windygates and Glenrothes isn't exactly a high speed road, i never tend to get over 55mph due to morning slow coaches (see commuters).

Yeah, that road is bad in the mornings, and with the steep hill it slows the traffic right down

Re: fuel consumption

I think all Stilo's have quite a long throttle pedal. I realised yesterday even when i give my car some i don't tend to give it more than 60-70% throttle... i gave it 100% pulling out a junction on the way home.... reminded me that i don't have ASR!

Re: fuel consumption

just checked the stilo, average speed 37mph, average mpg 37.1 distence travelled 187.

As Im usually using the brava I get cought out by the ASR. the large roundabout in Kirkcaldy that leads to the duel carrageway is usually slippy. so if the wheels spin I usally let go of the peddle a bit to counteract. then asr kicks in and drops it off to near no acceleration, you can imagine what happens now

As long as it can do the 0 - 60 sprint in under 10s then you'll beat the small engined rover

Re: fuel consumption

I know the roundabout, usually covered in a thin film of diesel! My sis dropped her bike there a while back.

Re: fuel consumption

I've just brimmed my stilo, £42 of BP Normal Unleaded (2 bottles of water and a bag of sour haribo). Range to empty on the forecourt is 380Miles. I'm going to be nipping about town for the next 2 weeks with little care for fuel consumption and see how far i get.

Re: fuel consumption

Not bad, was it mainly backroads/motorway/urban or mixed driving?

I covered 600 miles on a tank, but it was red light on and 60 miles remaining, i managed 49.5mpg, doing a typical 70-80mph for most of the tank, maybe 100 miles at best of that going less than 70mph.
