| Fault Warnings - Help Please Good Morning Everyone, wondering if any of you have had similar experiences with a number of problems that have arisen with my abarth over the last week , Its booked in to dealers tomorrow for checks but would value the expert advice available here. The problems are :- 1 - Engine Control System failure message sometimes appears on the dash computer for 30 seconds ish before dissapearing , engine also stutters in low revs. Fault clears and when car restarted diagnostic check says ok. 2 - ASR / ESP Failure message appears on dash on a daily basis , ASR Symbol stays illuminated but fault warning clears from the dash computer after about thirty seconds. Usually arises when between 80-90mph but all clears when engine next started up and check says ok. 3 - When in Auto mode engine does not change up gears , if i drop the accelarator it goes down the gears but dosent change up. This has been the case for the last two days and has not cleared. Thanks in advance Seany

| Glutton for Punishment | Re: Fault Warnings - Help Please Hey Seany Sorry to hear about your car's problems. I hope this helps: 1. On my Stilo 1.6 Dynamic, I had startup faults (e.g. ABS/ASR/EBD) and sometimes Fuel Level Sensor; I read the Stilo Service CD and read that one of the first nodes checked by the Body Computer (during the time the engine is being started) is the Brake Node; because my battery's voltage was down, when extra current was being drawn, a lower voltage reading was coming back to the Body Computer, and it must have thought it was a Node failure. None of these faults could be found on the Examiner - I got my dealer to replace the battery for one fitted to a JTD (i.e. higher capacity) and, touch wood, everything's been fine since. 2. On my bro's Stilo Abarth, he had ASR/ESP failures each time he started the car. He read somewhere that the "Steering Angle Sensor" needs to be reset; apparantly there was a supplementary guide that came with his car (it was a 53 plate) that told you how to do this. He said that the fault never came back on it. Good luck getting it sorted! Rich
