Hi all,

1st post on your fab forum, just wondering if you anyone could throw some light on the following code which is logged in my abs module.

C1460 Brake fluid pressure sensor fault

My car is an '02 Stilo 1.8 16v Dynamique

This causes ABS ESP ASR not to work and throws all sorts of error messages up on the dash.

Can anyone tell me if this is something that can be swapped out or whether it is built into the ABS pump.

Many thanks in advance

David

-edit- forgot to mention my car details

I don't think we have an ABS pressure sensor

http://www.scangauge.net/DTC/Chassis.html

I have
C1460 Vehicle Accelerometer Power Circuit Failure

that's main power loss to ABS unit and will give you all those warnings.

So I'd check fuses F37 and F42 on the body computer and maybe even main fuse F1 under the bonnet and the ABS earth C12. Got power in? Got earth out? You have a circuit again

Usual volt drop test on the earth shown here will find out if there's a problem there

Hmmm the plot thickens,

Thanks for that will check those points first thing.

The code description came from the "FiatEcuScan" software which I am using, which I can highly recommend.

Thanks again

Hi all

Quick update, Checked deckchairs suggestions first thing but found no problems in those areas.

Had a word with a few tame fiat mechanics and they were 100% sure that there was no pressure sensor on the pump until the last one went and asked for one at the parts counter and found that in fact there is but it is £217 + vat and they have never supplied one.

So I decided to pull the pump out this evening and check the loom and to my surprise I found that all 3 wires to the sensor were broken. spliced them back together and refitted the pump and ta-da no abs warnings!!

Just need to bleed the brakes and Im good to go.

Thanks for the help

David

Will try to get some pics but as the pump is back in situ it will be difficult, the sensor is on the back of the pump screwed directly into the pump body.

It's interesting because there is no sensor on the wiring diagrams so I guess the sensor is integral to the ABS unit and the price of £200 I would think is for the whole ABS unit

How do you think the 3 wires were severed? Do you have heavy handed technicians where you are?

Hi

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply, this is the best pic I could manage with the pump in place.

The sensor is marked by the badly drawn arrow and the loom was broken about 4" away from the connector at a kink in the sheathing.

I have not heard a peep out of the ABS since reconnecting, now on to the Airbag problems.......

Just read in the specs that this model has "emergency brake assist" fitted which is supposed to increase the braking pressure applied during emergency braking. That's maybe why I have this sensor and others do not.

Too clever by half if you ask me.

I think that the loom was just very poorly designed with stiff conduit sections joined by cloth tape. the wires were broken at the tape section between 2 conduit sections.

Not sure on the history of the car as I have just bought it and I'm in the process of sorting it out as it is going to be for my sister-in-law.
