Hi guys
I have Sat nav in my Stilo but it is a smaller screen only displaying in mono orange. I have got hold of a full colour screen unit but would like to know how to remove the unit from the car.
Also will I have to install any software-I have the sat nav disks you use to navigate but no setup disk.
Any one got any ideas?

Removing the SatNav+ unit is straight forward, you just insert the keys into the 2 holes either side of the CD slot and hey presto out it comes - I assume its a similar mechanism on the mono unit.

There is no software to install on the SatNav+, unless you upgrade the flash memory with a new version. AFAIK you only need the Setup disk if you want to change languages from the default. If you do need it, loads of people can 'lend' you a copy on here!

BTW - I'm fairly sure that the SatNav+ is keyed to the body computer, there is a 4 digit pin code that comes with the unit - having said that the CDC has a pin code too, and I didnt needed that when I installed it!

Are you going to install a mic so that you can use the VR and handsfree features?

Paul

Thanks Paul
You say you need keys, what do they look like could I 'manufacture' some?

I didn't know you needed to install a mic, the unit i've got in now lets you talk hands free on the phone. Is that what you meant?

I am new to this site so all you help is much appreciated.

Matt

the keys you need are standatd radio removal items only wider. if you have these just cut them in half. i removed mine by cutting a couple of pieces of a metal coathanger. just push these right in to release the clips. if you are having trouble pulling the unit out, remove the glovebox liner, this allows you to get your hand in to push it from the back.

Welcome to the forum, Matty :D

Be interesting to get some feedback from the Nav only guys, not that many on here iirc.

As for your upgrade, removing the 'old' unit from the car is best using coat hangers, as per DOG. Hard to tell what version the 'new' unit will be on, but no doubt we can sort you out once installed.

Thanks Stuart

My 'old' is on version 7 at the moment. Is that the version of disks that I use for navigation or the original software?

My 'old' unit is great but it has the smaller orange screen and I fancied trying the bigger colour screen. When it turns up I'll contact you guys again to let you know.

Is it best to just put a post on the Stilo threads or keep trying to search for this thread everytime?

This site is great by the way, never knew it existed till today!

Ok, version number relates to the firmware version, which gets updated occasionally - current version for Nav+ is 9.8, not sure on Nav.

You also need a setup disk when any upgrades are done.

As for Nav, this is a NavTeq disk, which is updated every year - current is 2004/5.

Keep on this thread if possible, they will only get deleted or merged otherwise ;)

Glad you found us :D - how, may I ask out of curiosity?

PS-Paul-your Stilo looks cracking mate. I need to get a boot spoiler and skirts for mine!

Cheers Matty, glad you like it!

BTW, be careful when you put the coat hanger/screwdriver/key or whatever in the holes on the SatNav. Unlike most units these holes actually go INSIDE the unit, so if you push them in to far you risk damaging something inside!

Hi , back again, got new Sat Nav unit today and got the old one out OK, it was really easy!

Fitted new unit but keeps asking for master code!

The guy I got it from on ebay said it didn't need a code when he put it in his Doblo.

Am I screwed here or is there a way out?

Help

Matty

His Doblo? Wasn't aware that had same unit...

You will deffo need the code, else the unit is scrap. Can you find out where his Doblo was registered, then phone up that dealership with all the details - they SHOULD supply you the radio code. He may be able to do it for you on your behalf.

Have you checked to make sure not on a sticker on the unit? See Paulmacs thread about similar thing......

Guys, I have the Sat Nav+ in my Stilo i brought it from Ebay.... The CD/MP3/Radio Player works BUT the Phone dont as i dont have the microphone or GPS aerial. Does anyone know where i can get the Microphone from or the make of the mic??

Any info on this would be great! This is my last try for this.

Cheers guys.

yeah 3 times now and they never get back to me! I think its the worst one in the UK (TJ VICKERS TELFORD)

Tried that site too, didnt really find much.....

its so hard to find stuff on the net about the Connect Nav+ System!

Is anyone selling a microphone?? I think i might have to sell the unit and jsut get the Mio 168 again!! Could do with some Alloys!! ;) :D
