okay here it is, i know what yous are gunna say and im gunna be gutted but i may aswell ask and how much is it gunna cost for a new one fitted from a garage? okay i have a 1.2 stilo sometimes its hard to put it in 3rd gears and when i first get in the car reverse can sometimes be a bit tricky, and sometimes 3rd grindes? i have had the stilo for 7 weeks now!!

okay first question is this normal
then if you think the gearbox needs replacing how much will it cost (including labour from a garage)
and if it does need replacing and i dont replace it will it damage anything else on the car

i told my brother that after driving my mams that my gearbox is harder to change he says that means that my clutch is on the way out?

i would rather know what you guys think? so i know how much of my student loan i should keep back if you know what i mean?

If its driveable, my advice would be to change the gearbox oil and carry on driving it till it breaks (hopefully it won't!). Have some breakdown cover ready, just in case it does.

My 1.2 is sometimes tricky to get into reverse; you have to let the clutch out and then try again a couple times but it does eventually go in.

okay when i put it in for sevice will they change the gear box oil or will i have to pay extra for them to do that?

and how much will it cost?

does sound like the clutch if the pedal is stiff, the clutches on the stilos, barring the jtd are feather light if the clutch is good, they get heaver as they wear. when they become so heavy you feel like your pushing it though the floor its time to get it changed,
roy

the clutch is really light mate so thats a good sign then, so would yous just say get it oiled and is there any chance of the gearbox lasting another 40,000 miles? just im hoping the car will be able to last the next 3 years with no major work, im getting the timing belt done next year just to make sure it does last, just hoping the gear box or head gasket does not go tbh
