An AWD Stilo with 1300 kg and 350 HP would be a good match for most any hot hatch currently on the road. One does have to ask oneself though, how many people would survive the first three months of ownership...
I'd go along with that, I think they know us Fiat owners are a bunch of nutters and are just protecting other road goers

Sorry, youre right

The 2.4 is a new engine.......but 260bhp through the front wheels- no thanks

I do believe the will be branding it the XR3.

According to what I read, it will be badge ST, which is in keeping with Fords current trend, however, the XR3 tag has been banded about as many are hailing it as the XR3's spiritual successor.

Funnily enough, I always seem to remember the XR3 being a bit crap as a hot hatch, hopelessly out powered by the Golf GTi, pug GTi etc, and of course the RS veriants of the Escort.

It is definitely a volvo sourced 2.5T though, I guess as Paul says it will be LPT, which is probably a good thing, being not a huge car 217bhp is plenty, and the LPT won't suffer the lag, or as higher running costs as the HPT.

As for the Stilo...

Well I hate to see it but Fiat are being left hopelessly trailing, there is not real hot variant available (the Abarth really after is a grand tourer), and what is most annoying is Fiats 150bhp JTD is now available in the Astra, so why not Fiats own Stilo?

Combine this with crap dealers and is it any wonder they are struggling to sell? Obviously I like the Stilo, but why are Fiat failing so badly to keep up with their peers?

In reality, there´s only a difference of 3 HP (143 vs. 146), so it´s not anything to cry about. Besides, from what I´ve heard, the engine only has a different ECU.

Re: Ultimate hot hatch?

TNT, you misunderstand, in the UK we only get the JTD 1.9 - 115BHP.

Re: Ultimate hot hatch?

To be perfectly honest.

I would rather have the Stilo as it is, and at the price its at, than pay an extra £4000 for a little more BHP.

All that extra money for the focus ST when theres little or no character to it. The Stilos fine the way it is, be happy and enjoy your Fiat.

Re: Ultimate hot hatch?

Ultimate hot hatch? I doubt it. A smaller Taut Hatch like the Clio 182 with cup suspension would eat it alive.

Re: Ultimate hot hatch?

pureTNT; I did infact mean that in the UK we only get the 115bhp JTD, whilst Vauxhall has Fiats 150bhp engine in several of it models, very annoying
