I took a look at my camping gear this morning and decided I can get it all into the boot of our Multiwagon.

But!

All I can find is the volume of the boot space nothing about its weight carring abilities.

"The boot offers a class-leading 510 litres of totally flat floor space, which can be increased to 550 litres if the car is fitted with the optional sliding rear seats"

Our tent is large and heavy. I could probabely park our old Stilo in the center dome of it. Add the rest of our camping gear to it and I guess there's a fair amount of weight to have slung over the back axle.

Any one know or have a good idea of MAX weight that I should be stuffing into our boot?(plus 2 adults, 2 kids under 3 years old and a dog in the main cab) Bit worried about this rear bush problem Multiwagons have. :(

I suggest you take 2 large mates, about 100 kilos, and put them inside for a few minutes. Take the wife, children and dog, place them in the seats. Close the lid, check to see if the wheel arches cover the back wheels a lot.

If they give you permission, you can even drive around for a little bit. :p I'm sure the tent is heavy, but nowhere near 200 kilos. I'm sure you won't be over the specified maximum load.

I took 7 blokes (5 in the back standing on top of each other), boot full of luggage, winter, -20C, snowing, for about 50 km. Car was just fine. Looking at the wheel arches, they weren't near the base of the tire. For sure we had at least 600 kilos of weight (passengers and luggage).

Thanks but 860kg is the weight of the car and its load over the rear axle. I was hoping for the MAX weight of just the load that I can phisically get into the boot.

eg.
5 bags of cement 125kg
The max payload (including driver) is only 510 Kg so about 20 bags if no one is driving.

That's for the 5 door so you might think the Multiwagon would be higher (or is it :chin:)

Personally, I just keep loading up until the tyres look like they might scuff the arches. I've found my Stilo drives surprisingly well when fully loaded

Stu - If u are short of space u can borrow my large roof box and roof bars. I've had mine laden with wife & 3 kids + the boot packed full to the roof (no box) and it still averaged 50mpg on a trip to and from North Devon, inc driving around while down there. I don't think it would do that now however, as its still a bit poorly in the power dept as u know.

Thanks Dave, I think I'm ok for space but I might take you up on that offer.

:Offtopic:My ELM327 cable was delivered this morning. Plugged it into the car to check it worked before purchasing/registering the software.
Put in the correct PC settings and bingo. Check out the vid in the link below.

Engine stuff works fine. Doesn't allow connection to certain things, airbags, ABS but I'm guessing thats because I still have to mod the 1,7 & 9 connections on the cable(Soldering :(). Fully registerd now. Ready when you are mate.
