Not quite that simple. Can be a bit of a mare accessing the nuts at the back of the cluster via the small removable panel in the boot liner, almost guaranteed you'll lose at lest one whilst unscrewing or replacing them!

LOL, this is a job I've tackled recently and found it easiest to actually get into the boot and use a socket on an extension bar to gain access.
Why oh why do Fiat make things so complicated, especially changing bulbs!!!

Why dont you just use the little tool in the spare wheel kit? Little black/red thing that locks onto the bolts so you dont loose them?

Because they want you to go to the dealer to get the bulbs changed, its a cash cow, same for front bulbs. Same on many modern cars. Should be a legal requirement that all main bulbs can be changed at the roadside with onboard tool kit.

My old A4 had a really clever way of changing front bulbs. Two bolts on the lamp release the whole assembly, pull it out, unclip the back covers, change the bulb, bolt back in. The whole operation takes 5 mins, and is included in the manual. Fiat says - Consult your dealer for service. Grr

Aye, but its a pain in the backside to do. Should be simple, there should be an easy way to get at the bulbs. I mean on the back of the stilo, why not have a fixed lens cluster, and the light bulb panel as a simple clip in unit behind the trim in the boot. Then changing a bulb would be a simple job, reach in, unclip the panel, remove the blown bulb, replace with new clip back in. Done. Hey hoo, when I rule the world!

Re: How do you change a rear brake light bulb?

I know this is an old thread but thought this might help others.

Like others here my big hands just do not fit. I could get the bulb out but not get it back in. I could not find the red Fiat tool so I resorted to a philips screwdriver. Simply pull away the rubber door seal then remove the 3 philips screws on that little plastic shelf where the seatbelt comes out and the 1 screw holding the door lining. You do not have to remove the shelf at the top, just those 3 screws so it is nice and loose. The with a quick tug you can pull back the carpeted lining to give you plenty of room to access the cluster.

While this may sound complicated it took me under 2 minutes to change the bulb and put back the screws.

Re: How do you change a rear brake light bulb?

I do think it's ridiculous how hard they make it to change them. The front n/s bulbs are the biggest pain. It really should be user serviceable at the roadside, it can be pretty dangerous otherwise. I can barely manage to change them in full daylight, never mind at the side of the road at night! Should be as simple as unclipping the assembly, popping it out through the front, changing the bulb, putting it back.

They are not too bad compared to some. I got stopped by the rozzers once as I had a rear light out on a Vectra estate. To change it was 20mins work with a torx driver.

The next week a mate at work took his Astra to the garage as a front light was out and was told by the main dealer that it would take 2 hours as they would have to remove the whole light unit. The main dealer had obviously not read the manual as when he came back to the office still with a faulty light as they could not fit him in that day I did read the manual. Turns out there is a flap in the wheel arch, took 5 minutes to change the bulb.
