odd question maybe. but does anyone know where the ecu is in the stilo 1.2 and also where its hardware number is.

As after talking with alfanige it seems only some stilo 1.2's can be remapped so he'd need to know the ecu number to know for sure if its posible.

I presume ECU would be in same place as in the 2.4 - i.e. under the bonnet? On mine, engine guard has to be removed for ECU to be removed.

Ah, have a look on ePer, you may glean a location that way?!

oh doh! should of thought about looking on the cd manual, i'll have to go look my copy out

i'll asume that body computer and ecu mean the same thing with the stilo, as if thats the case then it appears to be behind the battery cover

These are 2 different things - ECU is part of the engine electronics, body computer does things that are ancilliary specific, like bridging the 2 LANs in the car, and looking after lights, electric windows etc. If I remember correctly the body computer is under the dash where the fuse box is.

Can't Alfanige tell us? Anyone able to locate the ECU, can you take a pic of under the bonnet and point out where the ECU is?

I could email him and ask where its located, since I got nowhere looking on the stilo cd.

This is what nige told me

"Look at the engine cover, to the top right hand corner is a rectangular piece of aluminium with two big black connectors going into it - thats the ECU"

Where can I get my hands on the Stilo CD?
I don't even have an owners manual. The one I got with the car was in Italian, so my dealer sent it back to who knows where for an English replacement... and 3 months later I am still waiting for it. :bang:

Dont know exactly where the ECU is situated but when mine was in for service the other day they did plug the laptop into somewhere near the drivers side...where PJP said, unless there are two points of entry for a diagnostic PC to go.

There is only one point of entry - the one you are referring to is just under the flap to the right of the dash; this would be where Examiner and other diagnostic equipment is plugged into.

Also, when the Ulysse was remapped, ALL actions could take place through this OBD port.

However, the remap for the 2.4 Stilo had to be done directly onto the ECU - this involved removing the whole ECU unit from the engine bay, and flashing it accordingly using pins. I presume from Nige's comment that the 1.2 will follow the same procedure.
