the engine fan is constantly running on the 1.8 stilo, as soon as it is started, it runs, only going off when ignition is switched off! checked in fuse & relay box ,and there seems to be relay and possibly a fuse missing! icould this be the cause??? or are the spaces FO7,fan2. TO7 (relay) fan2 and TO6 (relay) fan 1 ment to be empty????? in the fuse box  really fed up of the fan noise now! :bang: if relays are wanted , what are the part nos or specs many thanx :worship:

The rad fan controls are very different throughout the Stilo engine range. 1.8, JTD and 2.4 engines have the same controls but all the rest are different so be careful if you're searching posts for answers

With 1.8 engines then there are no relays and you have a separate fan control ecu next to the radiator (bad place to put sensitive electrics) so they are more often the cause of problems

Your fuses are F6 and F16 for the fan control unit called M150

First thing i'd check is whether the fan control unit is being told to turn on by the engine ecu. Signal arrives at the fan control M150 on connector C on pin 2. If there is no signal voltage there ( and I would suspect that there isn't) then the fan control ecu has a problem as it is turning the fan on without being told to by the engine ecu

If there is a signal voltage there at C pin 2 then the ecu is telling the fan to turn on and you'd need to find the reason why. Could be the air con linear pressure switch or engine temp sensor

But it's much more likely to be an internal fault in the fan control unit M150

If you remove F16 then the fan should stop but I wouldn't advise leaving leaving it out. Better to have a over cooled engine than a cooked one.

Fan control unit M150 is quite expensive and if you search you'll find some people have managed to resolder the unit internals or simply obtained a used one

I have same problem, but on 1.2 16v engine. Can anyone tell me how works a fan controls on mine engine and what I must check?
Thanks

The 1.2 engine fan is switched by 2 relays in the engine compartment fuse box. Relay T6 switches the low speed via resistor O10 and relay T7 switches the high speed direct to the fan N11.

If your fan comes on as soon as the ignition is switched on, the problem is likely to be the engine temperature sensor or the linear pressure switch (K120) for the air conditioning if you have it.

There is only one relay T6 and one fuse F6 in the engine compartment fuse box. I checked. Relay is OK. The anotherone T7 missing and fuse too.
My car have no air conditioning.
So it can be engine temperature sensor, you said.
Can you help me? Where is the place of sensor?
Is it a green one below air intake?

Sorry for hijacking years old thread, but I seem to have developed a similar problem in my 2002 1.2 Stilo - Radiator fan constantly on when car is running (even at -10C).

Just noticed it yesterday, so I haven't started investigating yet but if the engine temperature sensor is faulty - shouldn't the temperature gauge on the dash show ridiculous readings (and throw a engine fault light on)? Or is the temp gauge operated by some different sensor?
