The "boot open" warning light is staying on although the boot if firmly closed anyone had the same and is there a way to rectify the warning ......

Check all connectors/sensors are clean?

there is a small microswitch inside the lock mechanism, it is held in place by two tiny plastic notches that tend to break after several years of use.
You can glue the switch in it's postion if that's your problem.
