(G) Buying the abarth 2.4 20v selespeed

Hi Peeps

Picking the above car up next week (yipeee)
Have heard a few negatives on this vehicle, which obviously hasn't put me off, but wanted your honest opinion on.

1. Has there been problems with the gearbox on this model?

2. How do I found out if the car has been an import?

3. Will it matter if it has been an import?

4. Its still got 18mth warranty, will this be covered if an import??

5. There is no sat nav disk with this car, should that alert a problem to me?

Sorry for so many questions, just want it to be right. Any good or bad tips u can give me would be greatly appreciated.

what car are you picking up, can't be an Abarth as Sat Nav is standard with this car?

Maybe it's a GT model with manual gearbox?

Yes its the abarth.
The sat nav is there, just no disk.

Somebody posted me a link for navtech (thanks) and we priced it at £140, but just unsure as to why its missing in the first place (garage don't know why).

Also does anyone know if TMobile do a copy of yr sim card for the phone. I can see it being a pain keep taking it out of my phone everytime i need to use it.

Also worried about it being an import, don't know why and just looking for some reassurance.

Do copy disks work for the sat nav anyone know? As I'm in Manchester and more than happy to copy one for you.

Matrix, have done much posting about the phone issue for the Stil Abarth on this site, you might want to have a look at the string (which is about somewhere). Only vodafone give you 2 sim cards; any other network won't. Cloning sim cards is an option but is illegal, not guaranteed to work and could f**k up your contract/number if you let both be turned on by accident at the same time.

Where are you getting your car from? If it's from a dealer then they should be able to tell you if it is an import, you have a comeback against them if it is and they don't tell you cus the car will be worth less. One sign might be you paying less than it would normally cost in the uk. I'm assuming it's used? Go get a used car price guide or find one online.

As for the disk, I'd be telling the dealer he's knocking off the cost of a new one from the list price ;)

The car is not from a fiat dealer.
The cost is £9,500 on a 02 plate with 8k miles.
(Please tell me i'm getting goodish deal)?

Looks like we'll have to buy a pay as u go sim card and divert calls from the contract phone.

Its not an import, i asked. They also won't knock off the price of the sat nav disk (ba****ds), but if any one can sort out a copy, would gladly pay!

Isn't this forum top!! Looks like i'll be a regular here. Hope I'm not the only woman!

When will the car be delivered to you? And have you given them any money? If you've not then tell you want the CD or your not buying the car.

If worst comes to the worst I will try and copy and can give you a copy of the CD.

What is the full spec of the car? Are you getting sky windows etc..

I paid £12 for my car brand new after knocking them down from £15 so I think I've had a good deal.

Don't get us wrong the car is great and YES you do get a few problems and the aftersales are s**t. Make sure the warranty is ok.

Can I suggest you speak to an Fiat dealership to find out if your covered. If not pull out.

Standard Abarth (no sky window or leather) sob sob!!!

Warranty has 18mos left to run.
Car is metallic red (can't remember the exact colour spec), but it looks the biz with georgous wheels and brushed aluminium finishes inside.

If anyone know anywhere in the manchester area that are selling abarths for no more than £12k (good spec), then please let me know as struggling to find one for ages.

The guy at the garage was adamant they wouldn't be reducing the car by £150 to cover the cost of the cd, and really don't want to lose the car now i've found one!

Would love to have cream leather installed inside it. Anybody know of a good leather company that fits?

Just ring up an Fiat Dealership in Manchester and check the warranty will be ok.

And it looks like I can copy the CD so let us know when you collect your car and you can have an copy.

Copied discs DOOO work in the Abarth Sat Nav. I'm currently running a
copy of my own original disc. I also have two originals. An old one and a more recent one.

If anyone wants one, send me an email!!

P.S. I can;t get my abarth above 25 MPG no matter how hard I try.
Is this normal? Dealer thinks I'm mad, but the book quotes 28 combined - 43 extra urban (I think).
