So... the last 5 times i have started my stilo on a cold engine it has come up with this message, and then after turning it off and back on again... it's went away.

The Dip stick shows 1/3rd oil level.... so can i please find out what else may be causing this error?

P.S the engine is 100% fine, 71K, and no oil leaks.... I'll like to know what it could be before topping my oil up to full

Thanks!

Why wait until the oil level goes too low...? Top it up now & see if the warning stops!

I will top it up, its only because I don't finish work until 5... as the oil is under my bed holding up a broken plank lol
This confuses me because last year i noticed my oil went down to atleast 1/4 and no message was reported, so i didn't think this warning would be activated by only 1/3rd

Well I found all the below by putting "low oil pressure stop engine" into the Search tool for you ;)

https://www.fiatforum.com/search.php?searchid=4279227

Hope that helps releive the confusion.

Edit :- Possible software upgrade from way back, possible oil pressure switch problem, at worst worn or wearing big end bearings or oil pump.

Try getting the oil pressure checked with an external oil pressure gauge, a garage should be able to pipe one in for that.

Isn't it normal for the car to leak a drop or two of oil during the night?

Mine does. I never owned a car that didn't.

What could it mean?

lol no its not normal.. once overfilled it will not stop leaking though.. perhaps that could be the reason? i.e. in my experience following the procedure outlined in the owners manual results in about 1 lit extra being put in..

Mine does it if you turn sharply.

Usually when oil needs topping up. I now only top up very carefully as I'm sure
my dipstick lies... and I end up putting too much in... which blows back up into the air intake.. naffs me air filter and causes me much grief getting at the air filter.

i used to find that this warning would occur when the oil became old in my 1.6.
when this started to happen i used to change the oil wether it was due or not. this always seemed to cure the warning until i needed another change.

Thats interesting because I renewed the oil on the same day, like i said... the oil went lower before and never alerted me. It's always a gd thing 2 keep an eye on it as the engine feels so much better with clean oil in. The better the quality of oil, the better it is overall too. All cheap oils i have used over the years have burnt away twice as better oils such as Mobil etc

I had similar fault kept saying low oil pressure and loosing power or not starting at all. I had to change egr valve and it worked after
