re: Losing water.... is it head gasket?

Good news and bad news.Had the Stilo looked at today. No problem with Head gasket, but ive got a hole in my rad.I was quoted £180-£200.Asked about using Radweld or similar and was told its too risky to use as it can get into other areas its not supposed to and clog things up.Is this true,or does he just want the work.Has anyone had any problems with Radweld before?
Is there anything else i could get which offers a more permanent fix?
Could not see how big hole is as its in awkward place,so obviously any possible repair will depend on this, but i thought its worth a try before im forced into replacing rad.
Thanks for your help.

re: Losing water.... is it head gasket?

you can use radweld, and there has been cases of it clogging things up....it also isnt a permenant fix as some may say....youd be better off getting the rad replaced if you can afford it. that seems like an ok price assuming it includes labour parts and VAT. get a deffinate quote note a changing one. i say change the rad then youll have peice of mind (unless of course your thinking of selling it).

stuff like Radweld should only be used to get you home from middle of no where, then system completely flushed out and fixed properly. new rad is an easy diy job though
