Hi, I have a 1.9JTD stilo.

I recently had to change the rear caliper on it. I did a silly thing, did not read the instructions and moved the handbrake arm to attach the cable.

Whoops!

It has thrown the auto adjustment out.

I then (even more stupidly) tightened the cable up which just kept pulling the auto-adjustment further out.

The result is a handbrake which locks the old caliper up but less pressure (though some) on the new caliper and a handle which points up at the roof and goes three clicks before taking up the slack.

The long and short of it is has anyone come across this and does anyone know how to rectify?

Cheers

Here's hoping!

Dom

I believe you have to loosen the handbrake cable adjuster completely then wind both caliper pistons back in and refit the pads then pump the brake pedal several times with the engine running.

Once the brake pedal feels acceptable then adjust the handbrake cable.

Dave.

That's what got me in this mess in the first place!

Thanks for reply. I will give it a go.
