had issues with my 1.6 16v dynamic regarding asr, alternator n car security. would be driving car n it would just cut out. 1st either the rpm would drope or i would hear warning sounds then it would state asr loose connection then cut out n i would have to pull up. very embarrassing. before it got to the car security state it would start back up, then it got to the car security state with the paddlock icon flashing. After some research realised it could of been battery. had battery changed n no longer car security however asr loose connection n alternator failure has once again come up.

now i have a cliford alarm(arrow 5.1) with remote start n my cousin seemed to think that can be the problem but it seems to either be the battery/ ecu/ D4 connector or definatly the alternator.

also had clutch n cv pump/ boot changed n since then everything has been coming up.

what could be the problem ?????????????????

You have a main power circuit problem, your car is telling you "Lost connection" -alternator problem with supplied voltage-ASR problem (voltage sensitive) - a new battery temporarily "cured" your problem but the root of it is your charging circuit so if your new battery isn't charging properly then the fault isn't fixed

Have you checked out your main battery earth? See Stilo Guides if you haven't for much greater detail of how to check for bad earth

but the first step is .......

thank you for the video footage.

i've had the car checked today n it semms fine no more warning noises or car cutting out so far. i just want to get it back to when i first brought it.

is it normal for the high beams to dimmer once the heated rear windows have been activated?

+ it seems car has lost power in accelaration as it used to wheel spin with each gear now it doesnt. what could be the cause of that?

No, if it's happening significantly then you're charging circuit is poor, more than likely giving poor battery standing voltage and very likely due to poor earths as explained above. The alternator is having to work over hard trying to keep up the current load of battery recharge and/or heavy load accessories

you need to sort it out properly otherwise you'll have no electrics under the worst conditions of bad weather when everything is switched on
