Re: FREE Fiat diagnostic software

I have been using this software to diagnose the ecu on my dads stilo 1.6 16v.
I am using the v1.6 and it works a treat! Got an VAG obdII cable from ebay to use

This software is highly recommended and commended

Thanks Yani

Would you mind posting the item number so that we can buy a 'known compatible' device? Thanks!

The procedure is like following:

start engine, wait until fan kicks in (engine temperature must be high to avoid damage)
rev the engine up to 6000 rpm (5000 is minimum but 6000 is better) and let engine restore idle speed
repeat another two times
key off
key on after 10 seconds - problem solved
if not solved - repeat procedure until blinking and beeping has stopped....
I don't suppose this is applicable to the JTD's....? 6K!

Re: FREE Fiat diagnostic software

this is what i did to get it to work for me i have read a few posts on people having problems hopefully this will help.

my car is a fiat stelo 1.9 jtd 115bhp.after a little help and loads of reading job done.

the lead that i used is a usb obd11 diagnostic lead 409.1 kkl vag com from ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-OBD-II-Dia...74666591029386
the driver that comes with the lead uses normall windows buffers you need to update these from here LATEST FTDI CDM Drivers 2.06.00
http://www.ftdichip.com/FTDrivers.htm
THATS IF YOUR LEAD HAD THIS CHIP INSIDE IT MOST HAVE.
install the new driver and change the latency to 1 as shown in the how to on fiat ecu site. take note of the port number .
plug your lead into the car then into the labtop choose your type and make shure you change the port setting on the fiat software turn your key to mar and hit connect. :P

as diesels don't have ignition like petrol engines i guess this procedure is not applicable/nessesary for diesel engines?
I don't know if they have a phonic wheel at all ?

Re: FREE Fiat diagnostic software

Up until now I haven't had time to try the program out but I plugged it in this morning and it connected straightaway with no need for new usb serial port drivers.
Excellent program Yani

In fact, it's looks like I have a problem with one of my ignition coils (No.3) which might save time trying to find out which one it is causing a slightly irregular tickover

Re: FREE Fiat diagnostic software

does any wont know if this software can read engine faults and clear them as the engine management light has come on today (misses 1.2 stilo 2003). Then tomorrow it'll go off - well maybe, its been intermitant for awhile now and I just want to read the fault and clear it and see what it is...

Had the RAC out the other year to it and was exhaust manifold gasket or something!!!

Re: FREE Fiat diagnostic software

Yes it does but unless you rectify the fault that's causing the fault code, it will continue to come back.

Re: FREE Fiat diagnostic software

I know... plan on changing the manifold gasket when the weather gats better along with the flexi section and back box... which im sure is the problem as the car runs as sweet as a nut *touch wood* as i say that now!

Re: FREE Fiat diagnostic software

There's instructions how to set it up on jani's website here;

http://www.fiatecuscan.net/HowToUse.aspx

It also shows a picture of the connector location on a Stilo but for RHD cars, it's at the top of the fusebox.

Re: FREE Fiat diagnostic software

Dont quite know where to put this but just been out to plug into the car and there is abot 25,000km's difference between what it says on the speedo to what it says in the diagnostic software. Speedo is reading less.

Any ideas as to why this should be and should i be worried.
