Technical Help please - I can't open my doors!

I believe that removing the battery will not make your radio to ask for code. Even so, its easy to get it (just need to take the unit out).

By experience, i have removed my battery and my radio unit MANY times (cause of electircal works and Loudlink installation) and not once i needed the code.

It is for sure deadlocked. Jamed of course! And what can unstuck a stucked electrical motor (like the deadlocks)??? A strong and healthy power!

Try starting the engine, rev up to 2000-2500 rpm and play with the lock/unlock button. It may be a silly idea but try everything. It costs less...

Oh, since you'll got the battery off, try cleaning the cables. You never know...

Hi there, I disconnected the battery for just over an hour.
I'm getting very worried now - can really do without a bill.
Thanks for all your suggestions, please do keep them coming.
Thanks

when key worked the buttons pop up or down
so isn't that happening now? Can you enlarge

Check out or replace Fuse F36 on the body computer behind the drop down door to the right of the steering wheel
It should be a 20 amp fuse

This is the fuse to the rear door control unit

I was thinking whilst reading this sounds like maybe a fuse issue?? Taking the battery off doesnt loose the radio code by the way.

Do you have a local independent fiat garage? might be worth speaking to them as they are usually better at giving advice over the phone for free than your local fiat dealer. I have managed to talk loads of info out of F.A.S.T. in stockton on tees they are really good, very helpful.

I have a 5 door but not come across this yet, far as i knew the only child locks are on the inside edge of the door. When you unlock with the keys do the back door locks move or stay in place?

Hi everyone. You will not believe this....... having tried everything suggested without success, this morning I went to the car and pressed the key to unlock - guess what - EVERYTHING unlocked!!! The back doors opened - how spooky is that!!!!!

Now i'm worried it will happen again...a born worrier me!
don't know how or why they should suddenly decide to behave - just really pleased it is sorted.

I would like to say a VERY BIG THANK YOU to everyone who tried to help me. You have been great thank you all so much.
Watch this space!!!!!

Ha! Glad they're open again. Can we respectfully request not to give little one the key fob again. Besides the fact it's £150 to replace a key fob and you being locked out of your own car there's some really nasty child unfriendly stuff inside the fob like nickel and cadmium. Inquisitive hands and sticking things in the mouth like they do. It's an irresistable toy, just watch the way adults play with it:)

Good to hear...
For the future follow these:
1. DO NOT give the key to junior (until he can afford any damage will make)
2. DO NOT double lock!

Or go check it on a dealership.

Cheers.

Yes you are so right. No way will he go near it again. He actually grabbed it from me whilst I was fighting to get him in his car seat so it all happened so quickly.
We have been so lucky this time - there will not be a next! What a worry!
It has been great to have so many nice people on this site happy to help me.
Thank you all again, very much.

Oh that's a good point. Must say I'm very nervous now of locking the doors at all!!!
Very strange as I'm still not sure how it happened and I'm really not sure how the problem was solved in the end - spooky!

The key will stay firmly in my hand and I will be very careful how I unlock in the future.
'little man' has been banned from going anywhere near!

I'd still recommend going to a Fiat garage and getting the car plugged into their examiner to check that there are no faults found. And fingers crossed the issue doesn't happen again!

However next time you deadlock the car if you find you can't open the back doors again then I'd suggest the fault is with the latches, which I believe should have been done under warranty.

Yes I think you are right. I need to get it checked out as it is a worry I can do without. We bought the car privately so obviously no warranty - who knows , perhas it has happened before??

Will do as you suggest and I will let you know the outcome. Thanks again.

stuck door please help

:bang: hi everyone my brothers fiat stilo drivers side back door is stuck shut and neither off the handles will open the door 1st thing how does the inside door handle for the window wiper come off and generally get the door undone:bang:

Hi Kelsea
I agree with deckchair almost definitely deadlocks.
Just to make sure you are doing the key thing right, close all doors and hit the central locking, put the key in the passenger door turn it all the way left, return it to the normal position then all the way left again then all the way right.
Like everyone else I can’t remember if it’s the other way right, right, left, ah the joys of getting old!
I remember trying it several times before it worked.
Good Luck

It helped for me too. My Fiat dealer could not solve the problem.

Thanks,

Peter

Had a similar problem with my 2 door stilo, turned the key left left then right (think it was that way round, if not try the other way) and it worked, my passenger door opened magically! Thanks Deckchair!!

Hi, the way I fixed it was by accident, by try these.
With all the doors close. Unlock the doors, and do not open any door, the car after 1 minute lock all the doors again. After that, unlock the doors again, and try to open the doors with problem. Hope that help.
