Technical Windscreen Wipers (stopping / parking problems)

Wipers are now back and working turns out it was the unit which connects the light stalk and wiper stalk (behind the steering wheel) which is an expensive part to buy £180+vat but Martin down at AFH1 (mansfield) sorted the problem out would highly recomened nice chap willing to help loves his Alfas and Fiats , should be on grande punto site soon he owns one . many thanks for your help

Yes all the controls and wiper timing circuitry electronics is in there so it's a pricy bit of kit. Do you notice your rear wiper goes faster or slower depending on what setting the front wipers are on. Sophisticated stuff. Well ahead of its time:)

Yeah it is a bit pricy but had to be done i suppose so am happy , thankfully it was the cheaper one of the different types you can get lol

Great thread guys. Had the issue of wipers stopping mid window and then coming to life and then going off lol.
Opened the motor cleaned all the grease away and sprayed and cleaned again with electrical contact cleaner and then used a super fine sand paper on all the metal inside the motor and pins on the front plate.
Reassembled and they now work 100% :)
GREAT DIY and thanks again
keep these threads coming :)

Also as some when else metioned spray wd-40 on wipers and wiggel... they come off instantly whole thing took me 25 mins max.
If anyone wnats any help im here :)

Hi, I have a problem with my Stilo 1.6Active aircon. Not rain sensing wipers.
The wipers started playing up after I adjusted the steering wheel reach.
They would not start at all; I restarted the engine but no working wipers until later Saturday night when it had been stopped for about 4 hours.
I got back in the car and the wipers started even though they weren’t switched on.
They stopped and wouldn’t re start on Saturday night.
Sunday they worked again until it went dark.
On Tuesday morning I tried to clean all the earths as described by Deckchair5 in another thread “Re: wiper/heater /ecu problem” 20-11-2010.
I couldn’t find C10 behind the LH headlight but there is one behind and above the battery on the inner wing, and I cleaned the one under the RH headlight/washer bottle (C11).
Also the ECU earth and ECU plug contacts with contact cleaner.
After I had done this it worked fine all yesterday and last night
Front and rear wipers, washers, indicators etc.
The wipers park in the correct place.
This morning no wipers again and a bad connection warning on dash – this has appeared intermittently since I have had the car at a year old and Fiat dealer never fixed it.
What should I try next: the switch on the steering column or the wiper contacts as in this thread?
Thanks
Nigel

Update to my wiper problem above.
I cleaned the wiper contacts and then checked the feed to the wiper motor- no feed. Earth OK.
This just left the switch so I have changed that today and wipers OK again now.

DeckChair5

first of all. sorry for my bad english.

This is a great post and makes me smile when i see u knowing so much about this deckchair. so kudos to u m8.

Well now to my problem. My question is. that rear screen wiper. can it have a infect on other things now that u say that there is allways power to the wiper motor. Becouse there where first that thing with the windscreen wiper. then it was a fuse keeped blowing. and the fuse that keeps poping is to my boot lid. was driving the other day. Turned the wiper on, and something in my dashboard light up. turned the car on and off. and it was gone.

So can the wiper motor have that effect on all the things that i experienced. If so ill do ass u describe on this thread. If not im going to the mechanics.

Hope u see this.
