You might be lucky and never have any problems, you might not!

If your head gasket starts weeping then you've probably warped the head due to insufficient cooling. Your block might have suffered insufficient protection and could have some corrosion in the water ways now, you'll only know some time in the future if the car starts to boil again.

The radiator could also have suffered some damage.

Basically its a "who knows" responce your gonna get.... you won't know if your buggered it up until it blows up. So hope for the best, put it to the back of your mind and always remember check your fluid levels frequently. :)

I guess you'll live and learn, all I will say now is read the manual, digest it and get your nose under the bonnet and identify all the bits you need to check frequently. This is what I do when I wash my car frequently.

1. Lift bonnet.
2. check and top up screen wash.
3. Check fluids reservoirs to make sure they are all between low and high.
4. Check dipstick for oil level.
5. Look at Radiator for damage or leaking.
6. Clean slam panel and inner edges of wings, etc.
7. Remove any leaves in the scuttle area.
8. Close bonnet safe in the knowledge I've checked everything I can.

Hi,
I think I have the same problem. New thermostat and new sensor. Temp are still going up and down for 5 seconds. No leaks from radiator, not losing coolant water. Car is slow. Some circulation in coolant reservoir. What more can I check for? In high speed, low power, at low speed more power. Fan kicks in in high speed on/off. No visible damage at radiator. Air bubble?

Menola try to hit the ECU with the handle of a screwdriver. If you manage to reproduce the problem then bad news, problem with the ECU. I had the exact same problem and it took me months to find out...
Is it the 1.6?

Was it a genuine Fiat thermostat that you fitted or a cheaper pattern part?

What is it with people's fixation over the ECU?!

Advising someone hits it with a screwdriver is a very stupid idea, espesically if the temperamental 1.6 ECU!

I said hit not smash. Just a slight tap just to find out if it is a solder problem. I am only trying to help. As I said I was facing the exact same problem for months. Changed thermostat, water pump, temp sensor, cleaned earth point, connectors etc
