Re: Cheap Tyres

only thing keeping you alive and attached to the road are your tires.. not a place to save money on...

there are several online 'associations' of tire fitters (i use this one http://www.tyreplus.co.uk/) - if you use their associate site - it a) lists a number of independents that a part of the association (so you can find one nearest you) and b) allows you to preprint your order with a 20-40% saving over normal price (so now you've no reason not to get good tires)

Re: Cheap Tyres

That size of tyre should be relatively cheap anyway. I mean, I paid around £50 for a proper named brand of tyre and I've got 205/55 R16s. Fitting wasn't much more either.

There's some places that offer a discount on tracking if you get a tyre from them, may be worth doing if you've just got the car

Re: Cheap Tyres

ebay isnt a bad place to get tyres from, i bought a pair of Kenda 215/45/17 zr rated for just over £90 a pair fitted.

And so far seem to be a very good tyre.

What tosh. Wear rate would need to be identicle also (which envitably it isn't)

Only got ABS anyways

Will always get a compleate axel done myself. Can never understand people who only get 1 tyre done at a time

I must have automatically blocked out the tosh when reading the manual then. I did wonder why I read through it in only a few min

(only joking )

Re: Cheap Tyres

Depending on wheel size you can get some good deals.

I ended up getting some Falken Ziex fully fitted all round for 275 and they did it in the work's carpark. Was v. happy, have been on for 3 months, dont seem to let go and are actually really quiet. Would reccomend getting all year seasonal tyres over summers, there just so dammed noisy.

If you want real grip though and somthing that never lets go, the best I have had have been Uniroyal rainsport 2's, fantastic tyres, no squeek and no lift off in wet or dry. Only problem was they only lasted 14k, but for hard driving that's good, my P Zero's only got me though 8k and they cost a whopping 480 quid fitted, uniroyals were around 515 fitted but are awersome tyres if you can afford them.

Falken's seem to be really good for cheap and cheerful and seeing as the 2.4 kills all front tyres it's deffo going to become a regular on my car.

I would also say avoid quickfit, they tried to fit non XL rated/side wall load bearing tyres, u put these on and your car will handle like a wet sock.

Happy hunting fella,

Pookster ;D
