Re: JTD Turbo Hose

Looks very much like the one that should go to the oil trap on the bottom of the airbox to me.

In fact it is the pipe so quite what its doing there is anybodys guess.

Re: JTD Turbo Hose

Thanks Muppet1. Can you do a picture of your car so I can see where the pipe should be ? :D

Re: JTD Turbo Hose

yes it is the pipe that should go to the oil trap..... if you go from underneath your car, u'll have to remove the undertray to see it but on the underneath of the air box is a smaller box, this pipe should be jubilee clipped to this box....... it is very concerning that it is un-attached and free to suck up un-filtered air..... it is possible that this box has fallen off (i have heard of it once) but i were u i would re-attach it ASAP, or if its fallen off some how close off the end of open pipe as if any small stone or something gets sucked in it is likley you will wreck your turbo and even the engine (so be carefull what u use to block it off as u dont wan this getting sucked in)

Re: JTD Turbo Hose

Errrrrrrrrrrr No!!!!!

Mine looks just like yours does as i dont even have a airbox on mine. Just make sure if its not already blocked off block it.

Doesnt really do much anyhow. So wont hurt it as mine has been running for well over a year like this.

Re: JTD Turbo Hose

what the hell is ther eeerrr no all about...... i didnt say he had to have an air box/oil trap, i was just making the point that it shouldnt be freely open as in theory any piece of sh*t could go down it and as its a clear path to the turbo, that piece of sh*t could do some damage.
if hes got the oil trap box then attach it back up, or if not, block it up like you just repeated!

Re: JTD Turbo Hose

I found a picture on eLearn. The pipe goes to the resonator.
From what I know, I do not remember having the resonator on my car

Re: JTD Turbo Hose

Yeah i can confirm that they do fall off because mine has fallen off too. I have got a replacement now, which is due to go on this week.

Re: JTD Turbo Hose

Yep, oil-trap breaking away from filter box is one of few defects on my motor.

A cable tie is all you need to hold it back in place though. Ideally it should be protected by the under-tray too (y)

Which also fell off. Fiat damaged mine when i had a service there. Such a good garage.

Got all me new bits to put on at the weekend. Hopefully it'll run and sound a bit nicer.

Re: JTD Turbo Hose

Ok. I understand where the hose connects. I want to buy an aftermarket oil catch tank but I do not know what other hoses connects to the tank. Can anyone help me? please :worship: A picture would be great

Standard set-up works perfectly on the JTD.

If you're fitting after market then surely you just follow instructions

I`m forced to fit an after market tank because the original is gone. I don`t know what the standard set-up is, that`s why I asked for help. I don`t know what hoses should go in the tank.
The instructions from the after market tank is in japanese :bang: with no pictures

So, can anyone help me? :(

jtd airbox

So hit the bottom of the car on a kerb in Donnington Park services.. knocked the small box under the airbox off and left a hole in the airbox..

Just wondering a couple of things..
1. What is that little box?
2. Is the airbox specific to the jtd or is there other stilo's with same air box?

Cheers in advance.

Here`s some pictures and a .pdf file found on the internet.

I don`t know what hoses should go in the tank besides the one that comes near the turbocharger. Can anyone tell me what the standard set-up is? A picture would be great

Hi HZN,

I think you're overcomplicating things a little.

The vapour trap is simply a small box that sits underneath the airbox.

The input/output is common (function I think described elsewhere in this thread) so there's only a single pipe connection and that's it.

I agree it's very confusing that it's attached underneath the airbox (why?) as there's no connection between the two so it doesn't make a lot of sense.

One possible reason is that the constant flow of cold air within the airbox helps cool the vapour trap (which would help condense the hot oil vapour). I don't think this makes a massive difference though as mine has been separated for the past 3 years and I've not had any issues.

Re: jtd airbox

Did the same to my car and now the car is ridiculously loud. Got a new one to go on though, just waiting for my mechanic mate to be free.
