Has anyone actually gone as far as completely replacing the Connect Nav+ in an Abarth.

The stereo reset problem is annoying enough for me, that I'm considering it. If I get a fascia and a replacement head unit, is it fairly easy to do.

I realise I'll lose the Sat Nav and phone, but that's almost a small price to pay for a stereo that works properly. I am worried though that the various vehicle options like locking modes might be come inaccessible - or will they revert to the 'My Car' menu on the smaller dashboard display?

There was talk on here a while ago about modifying the firmware to fix the problems, but everything has gone quiet now. Any news on that front?

I'd be willing to give ya £300 for yer Connect Nav+ matey and run the risk it might fit in my cheapo active.

Check on ebay, Stilo adaptor plates on there for under £20. Not sure about it reverting to the little dash screen, can you setup My Car to display on that screen, if they can then it should still be accessable.

I'll give you £301 for it :D

Only trouble is, it might make your car difficult to sell on such a key piece of kit being missing.

Well my offer is honest, i'm willing to take the risk that it won't work in any other Stilo, plus the fact your having problems with it!

Oh and other forums i visit tend to be bit better than this, in the respect, that first reasonable offer is accepted! ;) Not the one thats £1 higher! D'Oh!

If you have a double-DIN space where the head unit is you could go for a kenwood setup which can include navigation, it will go in a ALFA 147 but dunno' about STILO...

Hi,

If you have the same Connect+ unit as in the Ulysse then there is a new version of software 5.41 which may well fix a lot of the problems with your unit. You can download it from the www.eurovan2.com website. You will have to register as a member and then download it from the members area (joining and downloading is free). Then just burn it to a CD and put it in your unit. The car should be running while you do the update and you shouldn't touch anything, the CD will also eject a couple of times before resetting and ejecting it for the final time. Wait until it has fully updated or you will screw up the unit.

I did it in my 2003 Ulysse and it fixed a lot of problems with my RT3 unit. The Fiat dealers will update the unit for free if you pop in.

Andy,

The Stilo Nav+ is a totally different beast to the Ulysse Nav+, as I now know :) - different manufacturers, and a totally different front end for the user.

Hi,

Silly me should have known they would use the same name for two different systems.

Who makes the Stilo one and is it as good (or not) as the Ulysse one.

Andy

Personally, I prefer the Ulysse one ;), on many aspects - the positioning is a lot better, the front end is more colourful, and the maps a lot smoother and user-friendly.

Think system made by Visteon [sp], whereas ours is Magnet Marrelli. Have a look in my gallery, and you can see the layout in the Stilo :)

This seems to have gotten a little off-topic.

If I did remove the Connect Nav+, I would hold onto it for refitting on sale.

fiattech - That Kenwood unit looks rather nice.

I guess I'll have to chat to an ICE specialist to see if it can be done.

Anyone know any good outfits close to Milton Keynes?

Which firmware version do you have I recently upgraded mine from V7.7 directly upto what I believe is the latest, V9.8. (to check your software version when you first switch on your screen and the Fiat logo appears in the bottom righthand in white text it will indicate your software version).

I think you can get the upgrade done at a dealers but I did it myself downloading a 'zip' file of the upgrade from the french/spanish verion of this forum site and then burnt it onto CD to upload onto the Connect +. I did read elsewhere that you shouldn't upgrade directly from 7.7 to 9.8 but should go insequence (ie: include all updates which took place between the 7.7 version and the 9.8 version) I didn't do this and (touch wood) everything appears to be fine.

I'm currently on version 9.7. I think the only difference between 9.7 and 9.8 is that 9.8 supports the new 'cheap' monochrome display in front of the driver in the newer Abarths.

They never seem to have bothered fixing the reset problem. It's particularly annoying with the cd changer fitted, because that remembers where it is, but the head unit forces it back to the beginning.
