Hi all,

My name is Chantelle, I'm from SA. I need to ask you guys a question. A guy I know bought himself a Fiat Stilo 1.8L 16v motor to fit in his uno turbo, but now he's telling everyone that it's a Stilo 2L 16v motor...???

I asked him, as I know the Stilo never came out with a 2L 16v petrol motor, now he says that he bought a stroker kit from Fiat in Italy. He apparently waited 6 months for this kit and he's the first person to ever do this....???

I drive an uno turbo, so I have no knowledge of these motors or stroker kits. I see in the pictures he posted that he has fitted an uno turbo gearbox to this motor. And he is fitting a T77 (I think) turbo to it.

I phoned Fiat SA and they have no idea about this stroker kit. I just want to know if he's talking nonsense of not.

Thanks guys. (y)

Hi Chantelle.

Don't think I qualify as a clever guy so probably shouldn't be replying to this post, but I can honestly say I have never heard of a stroker kit for the stilo. If such a thing did exist then I imagine a few of the guys on here would have tried it by now (there's always someone tring to get more performance from their car).

Although I don't know this guy I would say he's full of it to be honest.

I've trawled the web but can find no mention of such a thing.

hhhhmmmm, by any chance is he also so a Nigerian solicitor who's acting on behalf of the estate of one of your long lost relatives??

A Stroker kit is an aftermarket assembly that increases the displacement of a reciprocating engine by increasing the travel of the piston (that is, the piston moves further up and/or down in the cylinder). This is done by using a different crankshaft where the crank pin is moved further away from the center of the axis of rotation of the crankshaft. While this increases displacement and torque it can potentially lower the limit to which the motor can rev safely compared to the stock configuration.

:D surely it would have been easier to get a 16v Turbo lump from a coupe but thats just me.

Pics of the kit

why on earth would he want to replace his circa 130bhp 1.4T engine with a heavier 130bhp 1.8n/a engine anyway?

Especially as the 1.4 turbo lump has more torque  and the fact he wants to turbo the na lump as well means a lot of work needs to be done internally as well - oh well some people only learn the hard way.
