I know this might appear to be like flogging a dead horse with the number of threads and posts regarding the infamous Airbag Failure problem but can someone please confirm what / where the Passenger Airbag Squib is ? This is the message that appears on the plug in diagnostic machine.

1. A yellow connector behind a flap in the glove box compartment that is something to do with the electric circuit to the seat.

2. The device that actually activates the "explosion" of the airbags.

3. Neither. If so, what.

Yes drop down the lower glovebox lid and there's a small door in the roof of the compartment there where you'll find the yellow airbag connector

Give it a shot of contact cleaner and let it dry then reconnect. It'll need 3 clear starts before it's happy I believe

Is this what the fault diagnosis calls the "Squib" ?

LOL like Decks says, SQUIB is the explosive trigger used in airbags to inflate the airbag very quickly. Its electrically triggered through the wires in that connector block.

Decks - i'm not gay but mwah, mwah, mwah xxxxxxxx :worship:

Sorted :)

It looked like a previous owner had done the fix as the glove box flap had been taped up with black tape and the yellow connector had been held together with a cable tie.

Followed the instruction, somewhat sceptical, and hey presto - no beep beep or lights after the second ignition switch on. Bloody marvellous. :)

I can't believe such a simple solution to an irritating fault could cause so much grief.

Good stuff then Yorky
Amazingly irritating the "beep beep airbag failure stop engine" Yes, yes one warning was enough thank you

The airbag light goes out about 20 seconds after the fault is fixed, or as soon as you turn off the key and turn it back on again.
Thanks John, it's been a long time since I had an airbag warning:)

Hi Fiat Forum guys, I've been reading all these airbag posts for a few years, especially Deckchair 5's. I've had problems with both underseat and glove compartment squibs since I had my passenger sensor replaced a few years ago and now I'm sick to death I'm tempted to get them ripped out and re soldered. But before that, can i just spray the contact cleaner into the glove compartment squib or do I have to disassemble it according to your instructions regarding the underseat ones?

Take it apart, clean it then let it dry before reconecting the plug all this must be done with the ignition OFF you dont want any shorts going on in there mate

How do I get it off the flap? do I just pull it off? I also notice that there are 2 wires going into the back of it - these wont come out if I lift the top off will they?
